Best time to do cardio

I know this question has been posted prolly a million times. But ive read that after workout is the best, and that morning with an empty stomach is best. Im trying to build lean mass, so which one is it? And if you do do it in the morning, do you eat anything at all beforeyou start your cardio? Thanks

After I lift I drink a protein shake.....mega milk....lots of cals and down some flavored rice cakes (preferably with sugar flavor...toffee, caramel, etc) for high GI carbs.

I have been doing cardio on an almost empty stomach.....some days a protein source about half an hour to an hour before, but have not noticed a big difference in fat loss. I've only tried it for a month though, so I have yet to see. After cardio I eat if I'm hungry, but I don't force anything down.

I think you should always eat after lifting.....good for the muscles. But as for cardio I'm still up in the air. I haven't really found what works for me best yet. I do like the protein shake before......a lil bit more energy than nothing in me. Maybe my body just has to get used to the empty stomach.

I just reread your post and I thought you were originally talking about what to eat.....but I gather you want to know when to do cardio? It's a bit confusing.

Cardio is fine pretty much anytime in my opinion. Alot of people say first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, but I've seen people get fantastic results before working out, after working out, on non lifting days, etc. I don't think it really matters when you do it......I think it's more the quality of the cardio you do.

Sorry it is a little confusing. I just wanted to know when the best time to do cardio is, and if it is in the morning, should you have a little bit of protein before you do cardio?
