Blood Test Help - E2 and DIM?

All,

I've been lurking for some time gaining info re TRT. For the last couple of years I felt symptoms of low sex drive, ED, mood swings, insomnia. I'm 36, based in the UK, about 90KG. I got a blood test from my GP this September, results as below (apologies for the UK measurements):

Serum Testosterone 15.3nmol/l
Serum LH = 3.3 U/L (1.2-8.6)
Serum FSH = 1.3U/L (1.3-19.3)
Serum Prolactin = 267mU/L (56-282)

The lab/GP didn't test E2 or SHBG.

This was a fasted blood test, taken at 8am. I didn't sleep the night before as I was working a night shift.

I got referred to a private endo based upon my symptoms rather than the results above which my GP described as 'normal'. In the meantime to help with flagging libido I started on Vit D3, horny goat weed & tribulus, normal doses as per labels.

I got my bloods done (fasted) at 8am this week by a private clinic, results below:

Total Test = 31.1 nmol/l (14-40)
SHBG 29 nmol/l (20-45)
Free Androgen Index 107% (70-100)
Calculated Free Testosterone = 759 PMOL/L (300-600)

FSH 0.7 IU/L (0.7-6)
LH = 2.6 IU/L (0.8-6)
E2 = 209 PMOL/L (55-184) *I dont know if this was the 'sensitive assay'
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone 0.9 IU/L (0.4-5.5)

I was pretty taken aback as my TT appears to have jumped up so much. I still have low libido, mild ED.

The endo offered me a trial of TT gel for two months. I said no as I've heard negative feedback about it plus my TT level appears fine.

My TT appears to have doubled in the last three months?

Is it worth taking some DIM to bring my E2 back down? Could this help with the TT/E2 ration and help with ED and low libido?

Any questions please ask. Apologies for any newbie errors.

Did you have a good night sleep before the last test? Your T levels are affected by how good you sleep

Do you have sleep apnea?

Ever had a apnea study done?

Hi,

Yeah I had a good nights sleep before the second blood test.

Apart from a bout of insomnia earlier this year I sleep fine.

Maybe it was the night of no sleep which drive my TT level down in the first blood test

Are you on trt? From what I read your not.

Are you taking some type of T booster?

Strange your T jumped like that I look forward to hearing some vets opinions.

And the e was probably the standard one not sensitive assay they have to specify for that test and most dr's dont.

Hi,

No I'm not on TRT, although after my sept blood test I thought that I was heading that way, even self administered if the doc wouldn't prescribe.

Only 'test boosters' are trib and horny goat weed although I know it's debatable that they raise test.

Congrats on raising your T so much! I take DIM now and it does help lower E2. I took 100mg a week plus 50mg Zinc Picolinate for 4 weeks and my E2 wend down from 49 pg/ml to 32 pg/ml (7.6-42.6) reverence interval. That was while on TRT, I've never taken it otherwise.

How do you feel now vs 3 months ago?

Hi,

I don't feel much has changed since 3 months ago. Still low libido and lack of spontaneous erections. Mood a little better though and insomnia gone.

What brand of DIM did you use? And 100mg a week? Is that spread over a number of days or one dose a week? And was your zinc dose every day?

Thanks

Sorry that was a mistake, 100mg DIM and 50mg Zinc a day

These 2 are what I take:

No, my GP meant well, but she didn't include E2 as part of the first blood test.

The endo did request E2 as part of the second blood test.

Would have been nice to compare E2 on both blood tests but nevermind.

Those are beautiful ranges b.t.w. for Total Testosterone
14-40 nmol/l.....
Beautiful.
10.5 nmol/l is equivalent to 300 ng/dl in the standard American measurement.
There's guys in Canada that test at 6 nmol/l TT and told to take a walk if they request TRT
