hey i want to measure my body fat but is there many ways of doing it correctly?
do calipers really work??

Yes they work as long as you know what your doing. Everything has some degree of error but if you cant get dipped, calipers are probably the next best method.

What exactly are dipped calipers? I've been using electroimpedance scale for BF, but I know those are generally not thought to be that accurate.

if you over 14% calipers are gonna be fairly off...

generally, even under 10% there s a 3% + inaccuracy...

Slightly off topic, I know from your posts your a big proponent of eating big. when you were competing how far out from contest time did you start cutting? and how far under maintenance did you eat? and how much cardio if any?

we started 16 weeks out. but remember, i always eat clean, i just always add in cheat meals. So i was never a fat pig like alot of guys in the offseason. Hell, i only lost a total of 12 lbs from start of prep to the show. And I always stayed less than 12%. Still do now that I'm back from being a slack ass. lol

As far as maintenance and all that, we didn't really work that way. I always ate to get big. Never counted cals. Still don't. My body doesn't really work that way. I look better full as opposed to ripped and emaciated. I don't have the physique to be 4% and look good. Hell, i ate carbs and alot of them about right up until showtime. Didn't start manipulating things until a few weeks out.

Cardio i didn't start until 8 weeks in. And it was at the most 5 days a week. 45mins in the AM and 30 after i trained. Again, if you can't get really lean thru diet alone something is wrong. Cardio is just a tool.

Sorry for the thread hijack OP.

yea rj has great genetics... not everyone can go about being this way

Is there a reason why you want to know your BF %? Personally, I never measure BF% on clients or my own; plays with the mind sometimes.

because BF% and measurements are the only true measures of success. scales don't mean shit.
