Canned Tuna Nutritional value

Hey guys and girls, just wanted to get the general consensus on canned Tuna and the nutritional value. I know it states the protein content on the labels, but i was told that the protein in canned tuna is not easily absorbed and easily wasted due to the high level of sodium. always better to eat fresh fish, not always an option though due to convinience issues-- Your thoughts folks?

Fresh is generally better, because of flavor and less additives BUT I would whole heartedly DISAGREE with the fact that a can/pouch of Tuna is not an absorbable & easily wasted source of protein..IMO THAT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE!! Fish/seafood can be tricky in general as some offer better nutrients or more omega, etc.. but Tuna is still a great source or protein, period! It may not be "ideal" but I've used it (and still do) with great results.

in new to this, and ive noticed that tuna seems to be a very popular choice. whats the best way to prepare it? does everyone just eat it strait from the can/bag? or is there a healthy option for making it a little more enjoyable?

I take a can of tuna, and a can of chicken in water, put some light mayo in there.. mix it together.. and it taste amazing..

not a bad idea. i thought about the mayo, but i didnt know if it would be considered "dirty". and do you use real mayo, or that miracle whip?? also, is the protein in canned chicken comparable to that of the canned tuna?

chunk light in a pouch here... like the man said tho, tuna is a great source of protein... most of the problems i hear about it is the mercury value..

i take one can o tuna add six mashed up boiled eggs add light mayo and mustard and you got urself a nice egg and tuna salad that tastes great, lots of protein and some fat
