Cardio at Night time before bed??

Hi

I cant always do my cardio first thing in the mornings due to my work situation. Is it effective to do it at night for an hour before bed???

Should I have my 2nd to last meal, then wait an hour or so and then start my cardio session, or have my last meal which is a shake, then go do my cardio session straight away. Come home have a shower and hit the sack??

Any help would be great
