Compound Testosterone Cream

Just picked up my prescription and was hoping to get some advice. I do my baseline blood work tomorrow AM so I'll start after that, as he gave me a prescription to get me going right away based on Free Test and Symptoms.

1) Has ANYONE had good results from the creams? Mine is 150mg/ML and dosage is 30mg per day. One dose per day. I want to get on injections but I'll try this as the cost sure it right for me. (no insurance)

2) How much test would I actually absorb? I asked him and he said all of it. (Somehow I doubt that)

3) Best place to apply? How soon should/can I wash my hands? (No young kids and wife never touches me anyways. just kidding about the wife)

I think doing injections are pretty expensive in Canada too. As far as gel, my buddy told me what he pays for Androgel (I think it's called) and I was shocked. He has insurance of course.

The readings I've done say the creams and gels are better to keep levels consistent, but every Forum I go to says get the injections, creams and gel are no good.

I just hope I am not wasting my time and money.

No one really uses this stuff in the TRT world....
lol
The bulk of people are either on Androgel or T Shots...
I've talked to 1 guy at docs office once and he said cream was crap compared tot he IM shots he's on.
How much did you pay for this cream before you assumed Prescription T shots were expensive ?

Most guys don't have good results on gels/creams. They tend to work best for senior citizens. And there is risk of transfer to the children and women in your life. They cost more than injections as well. You will often experience higher aromatization on gels/creams than you will on injections. The absorption rates are unpredictable and tend to get worse the longer you use gels/creams. Your doc will probably get a kickback if he gets you to use gels!

Injections are by far the most effective and cheapest method of TRT - even in Canada.

You shouldn't go on TRT with just Free Test number. You need to know Total Testosterone, LH, FSH, maybe prolactin. Wait to have those lab results BEFORE starting TRT.

Thanks Megatron, I had all my "baseline" tests this morning. Included LH,FSH, Total T, Free T, Vitamin D, CBC, Lipid Assessment, progesterone, Estradiol, TSH FreeT3, FSH, SHBG, Prolactin, DHT, Cortisol AM & PM. (going back at 4:00 for the PM Cortisol)

I'm getting the feeling my Doctor is not the best, as I told him the tests I needed and he still chose to ignore some of them. Every board I read about what tests should be done differ from one and other.

I'm not going to trust this doctor, but I am going to use him for a bit to get what I need. I'm not impressed with any doctors so it is likely a crapshoot no matter who I get. The ones that are available in Canada seem to be crappy, and that is likely why they are available. And all of them seem to get offended when you tell them what you need. They love it when I mention the internet. LOL.

Let's see where my blood work ends up. I likely need my GP to refer me to a specialist, wait 6 months and likely not even get one in my area. I'll try the cream as suggested, and see if anything happens. It is cheap. I paid $71.00 for 60 days but I assume the dose he has me on (30 mg per day) is very low, since a lot won't absorb, and won't do much. I go back to see him in 3 weeks. So when I get my blood work, I'll post back and see what he says and what you recommend. I'll also get deeper into it with him to see if he is fine with injections, HCG and an AI if needed.

I've heard the price for pharmaceutical Test C injectable is something like $70.00 for 5 ml, 200mg/ml. If that is correct, $70.00 for 5 weeks is reasonable if I do 200mg a week.

Thanks again for responding, I've looked for other boards, but hesitate to sign up and I get great answers here.

And thanks also to Apollon.

Thanks again,

In the US the going rate is about $70 for a 10ml vial of test cyp (200mg/ml).

Often, the best approach you can often take with arrogant docs is the Socratic method. "So doc, how do men get estrogen? What this whole aromatization thing?".

Doc blabs for a while.

"Oh really? Gosh, I don't want to get boobs or edema. Is there any way to inhibit the aromatization process?"

they brand creams don't work that well cause they are very weak, you can get the 10% cream that has worked well for some.

I can say from experience that gels in the long run are the wrong choice for anyone.
Im in the UK and was given a prescription for Testagel 5g 30 sachets £55.
After just 3 weeks my e2 was at 95pg/ml (it was 41 when I started) I was taking 0.5mg adex EOD but could not gauge it right at all as future bloods showed, Absorption is a big issue.
Im now on 170mg test E split mon am and thur pm.
Test levels after 5 weeks are 860ng/dl day before next injection, I was taking 0.25mg adex day after injecting and on my last bloods my e2 was <50, ( safe to say that for at least for the next 2 weeks no AI and I will add a few sachets of gels to help speed up an increase in my e2.
So this shows how bad the gels and creams are in comparison to injecting. Still every endo so far I have met have said gels or testacaps only, No AI or HCG.
If we are to trust everything given without having a good knowledge then god only knows.

<50 pg/ml is not crashed....
Are you sure the unit measuring is in pg/ml ?
usually <50 pmol/l is crashed for Estradiol regular panel...
You need to allow the injects to build up a while before administering an AI....
depends how long you were on the Shots while taking the ADEX...
You could have lowered the Estradiol too fast....
so your dose that u run is 0.25 mg E3D ?

sorry yes my mistake in the UK the results come back in pmol/l.
Yes im running 0.25mg E3D, Also HCG at 500iu twice weekly.
My test was a regular Estradiol test, I understand that a rule of thumb would be to minus 10-20 of the regular test to get a more accurate E2 result, would this be 10-20 off a pg/ml result?
With that in mind would I be looking to get closer to 170pmol/l which would give me 46pg/ml on a regular estradiol test?

I am currently on cheap testosterone cream.. 200mg cream.. I apply 100 mgs a day.. I went to uro and tested back in December and test was 383.. Went back 6 weeks later and test was 635.. I go back on the 31st.. I feel like it has helped but I still have mild ed.. I take 5mg Cialis daily and I can have sex whenever I want.. I want to be back to normal to where I don't have to take Cialis..i feel good but not great.. If I switch to gels or injections will it make the mild ed go away completely. The Doc knew I didn't have insurance but I got it last week?? Any info would help me.. I got insurance last week and I go back in on March 31st???

I wasted 5.5 months of my life on compounded creams, getting nowhere with TRT treatment. Now on injections and finally seeing results. Gels and creams should be banned, in my opinion.

I have been on it for almost 3 months and was able to have sex prolly 10 times without the use of an ED med but I don't believe it has helped me completely.. Right now I have to take 5 mg Cialis daily to have sex everyday..Will I feel better if I switch to injections..i have been on 200 mg cream applying 100mg a day.. Do u think injections will solve the mild ed??

What strength cream did you get KC ?
Didn't a compound pharmacy make yours ?

Yes mine is a compound cream. 150mg/ml. Even the pharmacist said it was very low dose. I think he wanted to get me going on something. I see him Monday so we'll investigate further what his goals are, where he wants my numbers, if he is going to let me do injections. Seems pretty clear nobody likes the compound creams too much. I even hate having to remember to put it on every morning. I'd much rather pin twice a week. I'll play his game for now, but will look elsewhere if injections are not a consideration. Unfortunately not too many doctors here know what they are talking about.
