Confused regarding testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) being a lifelong commitment.

Confused regarding TRT being a lifelong commitment.

I have no experience with AAS, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), etc. and am still learning.

I see that experienced testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) users indicate that it is a lifetime commitment. However, when visiting the AAS forum it seems hit or miss; some guys don't do it correctly or something and end up killing their systems while others seem to rebound nicely and don't have problems after finishing a cycle or stopping all together.

I'm not casting doubt, however, I don't understand the apparent disparity. Or perhaps I'm just not seeing the whole picture. Any information is welcome, thanks.

TRT is therapy for low testosterone. it's not a cycle that's meant to be come off of and recovered from.

Testosterone levels diminish in men normally as they age. At some point (due to age or some other reason) a man might want to go on TRT. His testosterone production is already poor and adding in exogenous test is going to pretty much shut down the system entirely. This therapy is meant to be terminal. There is no plan to bring the already poorly functioning system back to life. Just the needle forever.

Thanks for your input man. But GD those last few sentences make testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) sound depressing as hell :-/.

If exogenous test shuts down natural production, do PHs do the same thing? I've also read that some oral AAS shut it down as well. Is that all orals or just some?

Kick ass pic btw and GD I wish I was back in South TX.

Thanks again dude.

That is a rumor, whoever said testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) has to be for life is not familiar with it.

Guys go on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) because their natural T production is below normal. So unless they can fix their natural production and get it back to normal they usually end up doing testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for the rest of their life. You can come off testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) if you like, but unless something has changed you will go back to having Low T again.

Guys who cycle often have normal natural T production before they start the cycle. They want their T to be above normal. Once they are done cycling they want their natural production restored. Thus they often run a PCT.

TRT is for life in that there is no cure for low t but more or less treatment. You can come off the stuff some day but you will just go right back to where you were, and often times your t level might even be lower. Now you could try clomid to try and bring your natural levels back up and that might work. But really its like cholesterol medication, once your off your cholesterol comes back.

Now I am young right now, but later in life would I still take, probably not, depending how I felt off of it, the pros of not doing at age 60 might be better than not taking it. I think a lot of it is how one perceives to deal with age and how they want to live with it. Some feel they should feel like a 25 year old forever, and some feel that with aging comes certain negative aspects, so it just depends on how an individual wants to live life.

Thank y'all for your input!

Much of what you said makes sense and I was coming to similar conclusions; however, I'm new to this and didn't want to presume anything.

I agree, in most cases none of this is life threatening, it is about quality of life. I've stated in other threads that I am seeking to improve my quality of life, not cure a disease or unnaturally extend my life; and I still stick to that belief. I don't want to take away from the men who have ultra low T levels and risk certain heart problems or cancers etc. I fully admit this is just for personal quality of life improvement.

I'm def not jumping into anything and really appreciate the feedback. Thanks again!

Can you clarify this please? That's a pretty bold statement to make even though I'm pretty sure I know what you mean by it. (Secondary hypogonadic and treating the root cause would be my guess.)
