the 90° thing is not he point, keeping your ass down is. if you got long arms you wont be as deep in the hole. short arms and you'll be on down there. too many guys gals take the easy route out of the hole instead of staying under the bar. save the back and hams for lockout.

the same thing applies to squats. lead with your head and not with your ass.

hell that applies to life too. :D

heres a great clip of one of the greatest pullers of all time. watch how he sits back before he pulls. legs under him until he reaches his knees then he locks it out.

Awesome clip on Gary Frank. Im loading yours now. Still a little confused on powering the bar up with quads. Man I wish I saw this earlier could have praticed, today was back day. Felt great after letting it rest from my nerve problem a couple weeks ago.

biggest pull ever by a 220er. 903.

biggest sumo pull of all time. 903.

he switched over to conventional because of reaccurring groin injuries.

nothing to be confused about. its more of a press at the bottom (just like a leg press) and a pull at the top. you ass dont fly up on leg presses so try to do the same on deads.

Just practiced that a few minutes ago here at the house. I understand completely it also feels much better. I think my knees were bent to far down. When I practiced the 90 degree angle it felt like I was pressing with the quads then pullin with the back. Seems to take a little pressure off the ham's as well. Now if my damn computer would co-operate and let me open your other clip's Id be in good shape.

Thanx again

I wish I could find the article I read a year ago, yeah, he was one of the famous west side dudes, can't remember which, but it covered the leaning back slightly, starting out with the weight out front slightly, and pulling up and back at the same time. I think that exact lift in that clip is the way he was describing. He also mentioned that the legs shouldn't be bent any more than necessary, because the strength is in your back, but that your chin has to be behind the bar... have to find that perfect sweet spot. That is a classic lift for sure

That's Dave Tate's Dead Zone article. I believe it's on t-nation.

thnks PB lord knows i need help with the dead..but i feel its coming back even though im still using the pink girly plates lol

i really think that was my problem-my ass was getting out in front of me and i was dumping it on my back...

whats the easiest way to fix this PB? i would think heavy core work, along with building the quads...

for me adding close stance pause squats has helped a lot

pulling off blocks with good form. pause squats with your dead stance. paused leg presses.

i disagree with dave on his dead lift thoughts. why wouldnt you use your quads as much as possible? the more muscle groups you include in any movment the stronger that lift is gonna be. thats just common sense. according to him gary frank, andy bolton, ed coan are all pulling wrong. the three best pullers of all time.

guys this stuff is not rocket science. its fucking weight lifting. if it was rocket science all the rocket scientists would be big as hell and all the dumbasses like me would be weak and scranny. too many guys outsmarting themselves out of bigger numbers with too much information. just dummy up and lift. lifting is as about as primal as you get. you either get the rep or you dont. a litte common sense goes a long long way.

along with that im not saying maxx every week but if your not occasionally missing lifts your not training heavy enough . it may be the 5th rep in a set of 5 or a single .
remember cant never could :goof:
