deadlift grip is pissweak

inked1

huh?
I am having trouble with my dead grip. I use a two hand over whilst warming up, then swap to under/over once I hit about 270, but once I get to about 315, my hands give way well before my back.
I have been using straps for my heavier lifts and managed to pull 425 yesterday, but since I am hoping to do a PL meet sometime next year, I really need to work on my grip
would chalk help ( even though my gym won't let you use it). I saw EFTS was selling liquid chalk, anyone used that?

what should I do?
thanks

i use chalk and never have a problem with my grip. i dont use straps either. just chalk your hands up. chalk em over something like a towel and hide away from them. i do it inside my gym bag.

Heard that liquid chalk aint to good BB was talkin about it. Im having the same problem Im fine pullin 405 for 6 then I up it to 475 and lose my grip before my back gets full benifit.

You got too chooses get a gripper and lay around and grip it or take it to work. Pinch plates help too. Truthfully if you got a meet comin up just get used to the straps. The way I see it Id rather improve my back workout with straps rather then pull big weight to tear up my hands and just increase my grip strength. Try warm-ups no straps then cores with straps. Best of both worlds, Good luck man.

nothing wrong with using straps but just realize if you plan to compete you will need to do grip work as well..i would talk to the guys at your gym ask them if you can use chalk as long as you clean it up..if not maybe try the liquid stuff which wont be as good as real chalk but im sure its better than nothing..

fro some grip work put some baby powder on your hands or the bar, grip it and do som static holds..g=hang on for as long as you can :)

My gym said I couldn't use chalk either. Doesn't stop me, just keep it clean and nobody will bitch.

Static holds are hanging from say a cable crossover right?

not sure what you are talking about..

static holds for grip..load a barbell with weights inside a power rack pick it up off the pins and standing erect(same position as deadlift lockout) hold the barbell for as long as you can..you can add powder to your hands which willmake it a bitch to hold on to the bar

Sure, but that isn't very much weight. Think of a shrugging weight, or maybe more, that you simply hold onto. Or use a double overhand grip which will allow for less weight, you can do double overhand deadlifts as well.

Anything where you aren't moving, is static.

In the military gym, we couldn't use chalk so i carried a piece in with me in my towel. Just a stick will do ya. Works wonders. Try chalking and rolling your thumbs over your first finger also. Make sure you chalk it first!
