Deadlifting injury ?

Dlove

Product of Test
Ive been deadlifting now for about a yr into a new routine of mine and just injured myself today. I was wondering if anybody else has hadn the pain where its on the inside of your lat and feels like its penetrating through your backbone into your ribs almost. It's the nastiest pain Ive gotten yet from power movents. The pain came when I was lowering the weight, it felt like a lightning bolt of pain threw the lat. It was into my second set and I had to leave it was so bad.

Im wondering if something is going on into the right side of my body because my right foot has been numb and Ive been having difficulty walking on it. I went to the hospital and the doc said I might need an MRI.

Anybody else have an instant pain that ruined your workout from deadlifts?

you got a nerve impigment if you got numbness in you foot. see a GOOD chiro and maybe a sports ortho to be on the safe side.

Yeah bro you hit that one on the money. I just got back from the hospital and thats what they said. They said it could have happened from a problem in my lower back.

go to a chiro now to get it released. hopefully there isnt any damge to the nerve, if there is it will take a while to get back to 100%.

not uncommon to have a slight-severe muscle pull with this kinda of injury as well.

good luck bro.

Im gonna look into tommorow. Thanx for replying pullin, it sounds like youve heard of this before. It's crazy that it happened. I only had 365 on the bar and wanted to do a clean and strict 8 rep set and for some reason on my 4th rep Bam the pain was instantanious.

If it's a damaged nerve, how long does it usually take to heal?

Do you do your deads real slow or explode and pull hard throughout the set?

Thanx man

If you nerve is impinged then it will take sometime before you are fully healed. What happened is that the disc protrudes or bulges a little into the space where your nerves exit between the vertebrae. What needs to happen is for the disc to be put back into place and scarred tissue to lay down so the disc can repair itself. I would try to avoid exercises that involve trunk flexion for a while. It will resolve itself in a matter of weeks if you take the precaution and haven't caused too much damage.

575, geez man your not playin games with that bench. That's a major drop to 225. Also doing wide grip chins thats weird it seems like the more isolated movements dont cause injuries. Lord knows what kinda weight you were using though.

I feel a hell of a lot better today. It's monday and the pain came on fri. Im still gonna check into the chiro. I guess he's the one that determines whether it's a damaged nerve?

just cause its impinged dont mean its damged. its like a kink in a water hose. if it is damged they usually repeir themselves, no set time frams though. sometimes sugery is required.

if you loosing strength in the area is usually a indication of damage. i have had several impingments with no damage. once it is released back to norm.
