Do You Want The Drinking Age Changed Where You Live?

What is the minimum drinking age where you live and how do you feel about it?

I'm from a province where the min drinking age is 19 and now live in a province where it is 18.

There has been some talk about making it higher or lower. I personally couldn't care and I don't think it would make a huge difference.

However I would hate to have my favorite drinking establishments filled with 17 year olds as the "maturity" of some is trying. I also think that a 17 year old would be more confident to drive than most drinkers due to lack of inexperience with both.

Besides that I really couldn't care less.

Your opinion?

Damn MM you love the controvercial topics! (I do too)

Obviously in the States it's 21 to drink but IMO if you can go to war at 18 you should be able to buy a damn beer at 18

Doesn't matter to me one way or another. I don't drink much (well, not at all right now), so it wouldn't bother me to see an 18 year old in a bar. The way I see it, if someone wants to drink, there is very little standing in their way, at any age. I live on a college campus (my girl works for the college), and there are under-age drinking busts every weekend. Changing the drinking age really wouldn't effect much. Plus, I'm about an hour away from Canada. All anyone under age has to do is make a 1 hour road trip, and they can be drinking legally up there.

Here in my province (NB) its 19. While I don't drink myself, I've always liked how the germans went about this subject. 16 you can drink (most forms of alcohol) and you can't get your drivers licence until 18.

I think it should stay at 21. I 100% agree with the fact that (most)17-18 year olds would more than likely try to drive after drinking all night. At whatever the drinking age is, there will ALWAYS be underage drinking.... How do you stop it. And no matter how much over the legal age alot of people are, their will always be those careless few who Knowingly put hundreds of people at risk every weekend. It will always be a catch 22.

Massive I do kind of agree with your statement though.
Maybe 18yo with Military ID only ?? But I think that it still puts us back to square one with the hard headed young drunk drivers...........

I should point out that the percentage of drunk drivers under 25 here is 85%. At least those that get caught and the percentage under 21 of that is approx 80%. I wonder if there is less drinking and driving in the US.

Lost my one and only from a drunk driving ass! It's amazing how many people think it's ok to drive after drinks...

I dont know exact numbers, but I would assume its roughly the same. Either way its scary to think of and those numbers should be a clear sign that its a bad idea to allow adolescence to drink.

Sorry to hear that jimbo. I cant imagine going through it.

on the other hand, Think of a bunch of young punks ranting and raving while you and your wife/husband ect are sitting there enjoying yourselves the one night you can get away from the kids and a fight breaking out everytime. I quite going to bars just for that reason.

I live in a "dry county" I must drive 50 miles one way for a beer.
I'm not drinking right now to lean up, so this has been to my advantage so far!
