Doctor Won't fill out my physical.

Well he did run some test and does have people on hrt. I'm trt from my first doctor who doesn't want to let me do injections so I switched. This doctor is running blood test as I type and I'll should know this week. If he is going to try to make me come in to get a shot every time I will be pissed. He is even checking for lymes disease but he pushed the form into the folder and said we can deal with this later. I just really hate having to apply androgel everyday and a doctor thinking 350 is a great test number. Can I pm somebody without 50 post?

I beg to differ. I don't see how having your doctor give you a physical, then annotate the restults on a piece of paper, is anything even remotely close to being "far removed" from what a reasonable person would request.

I find it kind of odd any body thinks that it is...
Two very important distinctions...

1) There is a world of difference between "demand" and "request". Read carefully.

2) No doctor should refuse to give a physical. However, giving a physical and documenting it for the purposes of having another doctor treat is where the concern may arise. Again, many won't mind this. We just need to drop the entitlement mentality and understand that doctors, as providers, don't have to do everything we ask. On the flip side, we can vote with our wallets and take our business elsewhere.

I understand what you're saying, and I agree that we all reserve the right to take our business elsewhere.

But I disagree that filling out a basic one page form stating nothing more than you have a clear bill of health is an entitlement mentality, or far outside the scope of what should be expected in a doctor/patient relationship.

Of course I'm speaking in terms of someone making a mature informed request. As opposed to say someone who is 18 walking in and demanding their doctor fill out their paper so they can "get steroids". The latter would obviously create reluctance on the doctors part, and rightfully so.

That's just my personal opinion.

It isn't an "entitlement" when you are paying him. If my Dr. wouldn't fill out a physical for whatever reason I wanted (sports, work, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), or anything else) - he wouldn't be my Dr. for long, and he would know why.

Exactly! Few things are more powerful than voting with your wallet. If a service provider, like a doctor, doesn't give you the service you want, simply move on.

Guys, I can tell you that Nordic is 100% correct.

If you walk into an physician's practice and stick a form in front of him/her many will not facilitate for you.

My father was a practicing physician for 44 years and I know he would not fill a form out for use by another physician without consulting with said physician.

My brother is currently a practicing physician and has been for 10 years and he wouldn't do it either.

The reason - general liability.

Now, if you want to get it done, use your head!

Set up an appointment for a physical. Have your physician complete the physical and then ask for a complete copy of your physical.

Send it along to whomever requires it.

Done!

physical

+! on asking for a physical. I went to my PCM when I was attempting to go with Maximus services. My PCM wouldnt fill out the sheet and actually talked me out of going to Maximus (ended up getting referred to a local testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) doc who so far I like)

I know the doc-in-the-box type places will do it for the most part

My Dr. said I needed help beyond what he was comfortable with, several referals, and nothing. My Dr wasn't real happy with that. I just brought in the Maximus form (I had the physical a month before), and he filled it out, and even faxed it for me. Now they even write me a script for the bloodwork. I know all the lady's in the office, and make a point to be real nice to them. In return, they are real nice to me, and I even get preferential treatment. Pays to be a nice guy sometimes.

Must be nice having your bro RXing you meds.! LOL j/k. maybe? For all you argumentative people that like to make a point, If your doctor refuses to fill out a physical, and he is in no way showing signs that he can be persuaded, here is what you should say """So let me get this straight, you hold a PhD in medicine and spent a ridiculous amount of money and time on education, and you still are not confident in your ability to perform an accurate physical?""" Then tell him that your gonna call the board and let them know that they have a DR who is not even qualified to do physicals.:beertoast You may even get a free prostate exam for the trouble.

Unfortunately we live in a litigious society. If an MD puts his name on a form with a date and a signature and turns you lose with it he/she creates down stream liability for him/herself.

In our court system, if a trial attorney produces the document and say Dr. So-n-So did you see this patient on this date and sign this form and the answer is "yes." Then the MD is accountable and culpable for damages.

I've seen it play out just that way before.

FYI...my father and brother were/are pediatricians and don't script me.

FYI part 2...physicians earn MDs (Doctor of Medicine) not PhDs (Doctor of Philosophy) .
