Doctors refusing to help with low test

I am new to this forum, and could use some help on how to proceed. While I am only 20, I have been feeling the effects of low test for some time now. 3 blood tests later my endo, urologist, and primary care took my money, said get F****, and sent me on my way. My first lab results were
first test 1pm:
total test-284 (range 241-827)
free test-66 (range 47-244)
Lh-3.7
fsh-2.8
prolactin-5.6
estrodiol-31 (highest limit was 40)
Okay, so its low, but the morning test is what they go off of. 8am test showed:
test-507
free test-108
crap. all doctors shut me down after this, and while i realize that that is a fairly normal range, That also means that my alloted time of manhood a day is 3 hours, then im kicked back to low test. While i explained this to them, they still refused to help. It has 100% been effecting my gains and i know its a problem i need fixed. So my question is how do i proceed from here?

May I ask what side effects you're feeling and how specifically it's affecting your gains? What were the rest of your serum values on the morning test?

thanks for the reply, on the morning test only those two valuse were what they were willing to test for. As for mood, I hardly have any energy, i snap easily, i have mood swings constantly, lack of confidence, almost no libido at all. As for gym gains i find it impossible to gain muscle mass and even have lost a bit. strength is decent however. Additionally, even with perfect diet (recording intake to a t daily) if i even make the slightest attempt to drop below 15% bf i lose muscle mass and retain fat.

Find a doctor who specializes in men's health. From my experience GP's and endos are useless when it comes to properly treating low T. The range they use to test is highly inaccurate and is only a guideline, the real diagnosis should be made via the symptoms and how the patient feels.

thats pretty much the conclusion Ive come to as well. However given my age and morning level, do you think they would treat me? as well as do they take insurance at trt clinics or is that out of pocket.

It completely depends on where you are. I've been lucky enough to find a really clued in doctor who specializes in men's health, but still works for a medical center so I get some money back for my treatments. I will clarify that I haven't actually started treatment yet, but will be this week (just waiting to pick up the script). I'm also in my 20s (24), but my morning t levels were about the same as your midday levels.

I am from portland oregon, called around to a few clinics but they did not take insurance. it is very frustrating. Would be it possible to just self medicate myself? i would like to avoid direct test treatment if possible, but i have heard things like clomid improve lh and fsh production, would even something like that just help me? I am at the end of my wits with doctors telling me no.

Self medicating is not a smart idea, too many things that need to be evaluated and watched! You could try contacting a compounding pharmacy in your area and see if they can reccommend a good doctor that specializes in TRT.

Best of luck to you!

Morning is the time to check your T levels. 507 is not that much below average for your age. And it is normal for your T levels to fluctuate during the day. Your estradiol looks good to.

There are other things that could be causing your symptoms. How much sleep are you getting? Is it good quality sleep? Do you feel refreshed when you wake up? Do you need an alarm clock to wake you up? Do you snore? Get a sleep study if you think you may suffer from any sleep issues.

Can you tell us about your diet? And your exercise routine?

What is your height, weight and body fat %.

Could you be suffering from any depression? How about stress?

Have you checked your thyroid?

As for testosterone levels:

Did you go through puberty normally? Do you have strongly defined male features? Beard growth? Pubic hair? Deep voice? Etc...

Any physical trauma to the head or testicles? How long ago? Or any illnesses like the mumps?

Have you always felt like you had low testosterone or has something changed recently?

507 T.T. ?
Free T at 108 ?
Get a sleep study done and go from there....
You are not "low" in T bro....no endo or GP will touch levels like that.
They don't go by age related T levels....they go by the range that the labs provide on blood work....
Endos and GP's don't care about optimizing T levels and your "gains" in the gym.
If you mention anything in regards to the gym...they look at you in another light....
