Does anybody.....??

Back in the day when I didnt have a family or a job I worked out 2 body parts a day 3 on 1 off and I would grow like crazy, now I can only get to the gym 3 or 4 days a week.

if i worked out with the percentages of my 1rm i use, 5 or 6 days a week, i wuold have flu like symptoms in two weeks, lol. Sometimes 4 days a week tears me up and makes me want to order 30 icns just for recuperation purposes, lol.

i powerlift, so i don't work specific bodyparts. I'm also not that young anymore (37) and need time to recover.

I go 6 or 7 days a week, 1 day each for legs, bi's/tri's, chest, shoulders and back. The other 1 or 2 days I do strickly cardio and abs. I also work a bit of cardio in on at least 3 of the 5 days I lift. Having no responsibilities outside work provides enough time....well besides entertaining the girlfriend. I don't really think I need the seven days...I use the cardio/ab days just to give me something to do.....I get a bit stir crazy from sitting in an office all day.......

thats exactly what i do but i see all these routines where people are working out 4 days a week and wondering if 5 or 6 days aint healthy.

I go 5times + 1 cardio (jogging).
Works best that way, I like it in the gym and I get better results this way. I can devide the groups better (for me).

what does your routine look like?

some people do not like to do two muscle groups a day because there either too tired, too sore or just have not enough time. so thats why i do one muscle group a day hence the six day workout or 5 if i do legs the same day as back. then i think if you take a 3 day break, you are definilty ready for the next week.

im in the same boat

i love lifting so much i want to be i the gym everyday but realistically i would make zero progress..and i love lifting heavier than before so progress is better

I used to do a 3 day split twice in a week: Chest/Shoulders/Tri's on Monday and Thursday, Back/Biceps on Tuesday and Friday, and Legs on Wednesday and Saturday.

I grew like crazy for about 2 months, strength didn't get any better, but then I guess I entered the land of overtraining because I didn't progress ANY for about 6 months until I switched to a 4 day split, and later to a 3 day split. Once I did that, I grew like mad for about 6 months (i.e. 40lbs weightgain, about 90lbs on bench, etc.). Now, I'm stagnant again because I haven't had my head in it entirely for several months.
