Does anyone other than me with low T suffer from a flabby mid section?

I'm aware this is not the diet forum.

I carry my excessive weight from my chest to my abdomen. I was hoping that my testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) would help me lose weight in my
mid-section. I have lost approx. 3lbs in 7 1/2 week on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). I'm not trying to lose weight but only body fat. I think my macros are pretty good. My body fat is not decreasing as fast as I think they should with a clean diet. Will testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) help reduce my BF? In my clothes I appear pretty muscular. Once I remove my shirt I'm still a little soft/flabby. My arms are toned with definition and measure 16.5", neck 15.5" stomach 38" Just wondering if anyone else with low T suffers with this & has had any success to remove fat from mid section. I even looked at other's macros compared to mine & they appear equivalent. What the (%^$@) is going on? My estrogen is 26 by the way. I'm all ears....positive or negative feedback welcomed!:dance2:

My stats are as follows:

Age: 38
Heigth: 5' 10"
Weight: 195 lbs.
Body Fat: 20%
BMR: 1890
TDEE: 2943

Workout Regimen (Musclehack)
Mon: Shoulders
Tues: Legs
Wed: Bi's & Tri's
Thurs: Back
Fri: Chest

My macros are as good as they can be with my work schedule & typically are as follows:
Carbs: 80g per day
Fats: 130g per day
Protein: 195g per day

7:00 am: 1/3 cup steel oats, 4 whole eggs & 2 eggs whites.
9:45 am: meat (steak, chicken, fish) almonds, 1/3 cup steel oats.
12:00 pm: Workout
1:00 pm: 1 carb. protein shakes, 2 tbls. almond butter.
3:00 pm: meat + salad or green vegetables.
5:30-6:30: meat + green vegetable or salad
*May eat some small sort of protein only before bed if needed.

trt will help you reduce fat and gain lean muscle mass, but its a slow process if you're not doing the hard work, but as you describe 3 lbs in 7 weeks would be over 18 lbs a year , thats impressive . work on the diet, ovoid eating while ideal, like after dinner and continue the exercise program, even if its just calisthenics at home

Thanks SalomonGrundy. Maybe I'm just expecting to much too soon. Never thought about considering the 18lbs over a year. The problem is that I need to lose 20lbs to get down in the 10% BF range. I'm hoping to achieve this in approx. 20 weeks.

The fat your referring too is called Android fat, this type of fat is very bad for your health, it leaves you prone to cardio vascular disease and diabetes. Increasing your T will most likely reduce this fat and improve your risk profile for diseases.

I seriously thought you had auto-correct on and had to google that! I knew that excessive adipose fat was a sign of low testosterone, but didn't know it actually was called Android fat! Man, that's TWO things I've learned today! My head's gonna a-splode!

X2. I was like Android?? Well I have an Iphone. Lol.

Lol. Yeah, IMT knows their shit with hormones so I didn't even bother to Google. Haha.
Yeah, I should have known better. It's funny how you start to think you have a handle on it all and then find out there's so much more to learn. My doc is sending me to an endo for my diabetes, I can only imagine if he tries to bring up my testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). It's going to be World War XXVI in that office as I already have a distaste for endos, not to mention ones that have no business discussing testosterone.

Sorry for the hijack OP!

No problem bro. Not like that...It's good that we have learned something knew. However, I guess I'm the Lone-Ranger....Nobody else out there with low T suffering from flabby mid-section????? Thanks IMT Staff!!!! I will Google all to do with Android fat to include cause & how to get rid of it quickly.

I'm so sorry, I didn't address your question fully. Yes, MANY men with low testosterone suffer from a disproportionately fat abdomen. It's one of the classic symptoms of suffering from low testosterone. I've been on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for over three years and still am bringing it down after a decade of low T. I'm pretty sure the longer you suffer from low T, the more of the symptoms you'll find. I pretty much had ALL of them. ;)

Sadly for us, it took many years to put it on and it can often take many years to take it off. If you find a better way please share!!! I wish I only had 20lbs to lose. :-(

Welllllllll, let me put it this way: I've lost 127lbs since starting testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and still have about 45ish to go until I'm temporarily happy. Being tall certainly helps hide that body fat, but unfortunately I've developed a good case of body dysmorphia and will probably always be looking to cut down more and put on more muscle mass. 3J has seriously helped me understand this process further and I've seen some DAMN good results so far. I agree though, it sucks that we have to let time do its thing while eating right and training our asses off. Good thing I love the gym, or it would be torture. ;)

Fastest way to lose the weight will be a ketogenic diet. Look up "paleo diet" or "carb night". Once you burn off glycogen stores in your liver, you'll begin to go into ketosis and will burn excess fat for energy. When muscle glycogen is depleted (which happens much more slowly than depletion of liver glycogen) you will be further in ketosis. As long as you supply your body with enough protein and fat, your body won't turn to muscle to breakdown. Carb night has carb regress to replenish muscle glycogen to assist in workout recovering and continuing to make gains in the gym.

And honestly, any workout program that has a specific day for a small muscle group like bi's and tri's, doesn't have my endearment. I'd look at Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe or 5/3/1 by Jim Wendler. The foundation of your workout routine should be squat, deadlift, clean, shoulder press, bench press. You'll burn more fat and build more muscle, quicker.

It's good to know that testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) will help reduce the BF. I will do everything to increase the reduction rate. Thanks for all of the suggestions! It's good to know that I'm not the Lone-Ranger!

Beyond reducing body fat, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) will specifically shrink fat cells around the midsection because they have some kind of T receptors. I've never been heavy, but about six months ago I had the most trunk fat I've ever had. 6 weeks into testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) I gained 10 lbs while simultaneously losing fat around the middle, my suprailiac skinfold is about 4-5mm now and SQ injections are starting to get tricky.

I understand...That was/is me & what led me to testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). I have never been heavy but over the last 3 years I started getting flabby around the middle. Not a gut, just a little flabby. I would diet harder, exercise more..etc. I finally got sick of it & asked Doc to run every test under the stars. All was good but T-level. I was so relieved & thought a couple of shots & the fat would dissolve I guess. It's not happening near as fast as I would like. I just wish my mid-section resembled the rest of me. Maybe it's because summer is here. Hopefully this will be the last year I wear a muscle shirt all summer!

And thanks for the post. Thad adds to my hope.. By the way, what are you taking for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) & how much?

Flab, loss of strength/fitness despite continued work, and mood were my main drivers. I'm on 200mg cyp / week, 500iu hCG 2x/week, 0.5mg Adex 2x/week and progesterone 50mg daily. I think 200mg is a pretty generous dose for me - probably put me over phys at peak before I split the dose to 2x/week. I just had a blood draw, will see what my trough is now (was about 880 last time). I have developed some acne on my back which sucks since now I'm self conscious about removing my shirt which defeats some of the purpose. Am trying to do everything I can to manage side effects other than reducing the dose because it has worked so well.

I had the other symptoms too but thought it was my thyroid. I'm hoping Doc up's my dosage to 200mg once a week. Will know more sometime near the end of July. Good Luck!
