Durestride

I heard that durestride is replacing finasteride on research-ology. Is that true? I have some friends that have had a better experience with that and recommend that over finasteride.

Dutasteride (brand name is Avodart) is a competitive inhibitor of 5α-reductase with duel activity against both type 1 and type 2 5α-reductase.

Finasteride only inhibits type 1 5α-reductase.

There is some evidence that the inhibition caused by finasteride can be somewhat permenant. This is a bad thing. I do not know if the same is true of dutasteride.

Dutasteride is much stronger than finasteride. This might not be a good thing if your only goal is hair loss. DHT is a very important male hormone.

Well can you clarify the causes of type 1 and 2 5a-reductase? What does dutasteride have in it that causes it to prevent type 2, that finasteride doesn't?

It is a chemical that directly interupts the process. I couldn't even begin to explain the chemical rational for this. No idea.

I believe that type 2 5-alpha reducate is primarily found in the prostate and type 1 is primary found in other locations, such as the skin.

So this could possibly be a better choice if keeping prostate enlargement at bay is the #1 goal, not simply containing hair loss?

I have been trying to contact lion because i dont see the combo or finasteride alone on there anymore, but havent gotten a respons by email or PM. Any info would be great, thanks.
