Dynamic quad flexibility

My quads always get trashed when I do sprints, and I think it is due to excellent hamstring dynamic flexibility (I can kick over my head) but poor quad dynamic flexibility.

Should I just do ballistic quad stretching to up my dynamic flexibility? Is that likely what the problem is?

Don't do ballistic stretching, quads or hams. Ballistic stretching, especially with cold muscles greatly increases your risk of injury.

If nothing else, work on your static stretching more and use the sprints to help build flexibility there.

But spikey, how am I supposed to improve dynamic flexibility of my quads? Static stretching won't necessarily improve this. For example, I have excellent dynamic flexibility of my hamstrings (I can kick up over my head), but my static hamstring flexibility is below average to average (using the lying on back/lifting on leg stretch). The two don't necessarily correlate well.

I can do dynamic stretching safely...just warm up and gradually increase ROM. I would just get up from bed and kick my legs back as hard as I can lol :D

Perhaps the problem is that ur working ur quads really well from sprinting?

I considered this, but when I compare it to say, front squats, sprints seem to hurt my quads more than work them. Front squats blast my quads, but I never feel like I almost tore something when I do them.

Also, I always thought that the posterior chain was the real work horse in sprinting?
