Elbow pain when doing bench press and shoulder press

I started to feel the pain on Saturday when I was training shoulders and then it was pretty bad yesterday while I was benching 285. So I'm thinking it's possibly tendonitis/tennis elbow but it starts somewhat above the elbow and shoots down my forearm and sometimes also feel the strain in my wrist. It only happens to my left elbow. Has anyone here gone through this before and have any advice on what I can do to reduce the pain while training?

I tried to use one of those arm bands yesterday for people who have tennis elbow, but I found that it really didn't help. Pretty much ruined my chest day yesterday and is very very frustrating.

Thanks for the input!

LD.

Advil b4 you train, that's what I do for my tennis elbow, sucks just gotta work through it. I'm starting to have problems with my knee now, same kind of pain like my elbow. I only get these problems while I'm on cycle body can't keep up to the strength gain. I have to slowly increase weight now instead of feeling like superman and the crushing the weights..lol..we all know those days right in the middle of cycle is when I get these pains..sucks.

Btw,that ass in your avi is awesome!!

I love me a big booty bitch!

I figured it was from the increase strength and muscle gain in a short amount of time as the tendons cant adapt as quick as everything else while on AAS. It just sucks cause I love getting stronger and increasing weight each week. Now I gotta kinda tone it down for a while and so there is less strain on my elbow. I think I'll give the elbow a bit of a rest for the rest of the week and see where its at next week.

No pain no gain I guess.

What type of AAS are you running? Sometimes certain gear can cause joint pain, while other types will get rid of it.

Test E, Tren E & Var.

On my 10th week of a 13 weeker. Only started noticing significant pain in week 9.

try taking glucosamine/chondroitin along with your cycles from now on. won't completely eliminate the possibility of issues arising, but will def help

Naproxen 500 mg twice a day for a week helped my tendonitis. I also iced after every workout and throughout the day if I could. Luckily I got to it when it just started - I had a bad run in with tendonitis a few years back so I made sure to deal with it as soon as possible when it hit this time around.

I get tennis elbow sometimes, best thing that works for me is take 2advil 3x a day, ice it as often as you can, make sure you stretch it a few times a day, and take two weeks off of doing bench and anything tris. It sucks I know but it gets real inflamed if you don't and takes forever to heal.

Yeah I know its gonna suck to take time off. I might go with lighter weight and just burn the shit out of the muscle I'm working, but I'll see how it goes with pain if I take that route. The thing is it doesn't hurt during the day at all, only during and after workouts. Maybe the fact that I iced it for a solid hour yesterday helped with the inflammation.

Thanks for the good advice guys!

Careful with Naproxen that stuff can be liver toxic if taken for too long.

What was the shoulder exercise that gave you pain?

400 mg ibuprofen 2-3 times a day with at least 7 days off your arms. Abs, legs, and cardio week!

If anything if it hurts STOP!

Wiki says full recovery is 4-6 weeks. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tendinitis

Felt the pain when I was doing military press on the Smith and with dumbbells. I will take the rest of the week off when it comes to exercises involving my elbow and go back to it next Monday. I'll keep it relatively light and see where I can go from there. Definitely don't want to have a serious injury going into post cycle therapy (pct) or else there go all my gains and hard work!

4-6 weeks my ass, I took 3 months off and still having pain, had to get a cortisone shot in my elbow.. that will help if you haven't already tried it. It doesn't fix it, but at least you can train while on cycle then when your off and you can take some time let it heal naturally

Sry to hear that workininhard. Sounds like Tendonosis would be more accurate for you than tendinitis.

When I was 26ish I took time off because of elbow pain. I blame skull crushers and going silly heavy. Still don't do them today but rope push downs are great. Makes little sense to me but im ok with that.

Do you skip back sometimes?
I had a similar problem when i was younger.
My shoulder were a bit rotated front wise bc i used to skip back, and chest was pulling my shoulders forward. That caused a misalignment in the shoulder articulation, leading to pain and inflammation.
Most likely you re not skipping back days if you re running tren hehe, but may that story help some younger bros who like me, thought it was ok to skip bodyparts..

Skip back? That's blasphemy! LOL

Ice your elbow for 20 min on and 30 min off several times a day and don't stop working out just don't do excises that hurt your elbow for now. Ice is the key not NASIDS, they are bad for your body. There probably worse then AAS lol

The anti inflamatories and NSAIDS are only going to mask the pain and allow the micro-tears to get worse. Best thing to do would be ice for inflammation and rest for maybe a week or two. Then when you go back to lifting I would suggest going very light with high reps. Example, if you do 6 plates on a military press drop down to 2. Then use high reps (like 20 plus per set) so that it will take some stress off the tendons.

Plus use this: https://www.schiek.com/supports.html and the elbow sleeve works great. Keeps everything nice and warm with a little support. Not hard to get it on and off like some of the power lifter versions that are super tight.

I got Naproxen from my doc, running 500mg twice a day don't notice any difference yet and have been on it for almost 2 weeks. I got a 3 week script, the only thing I gotten from it was bad shits for the first couple of days..lol
