Extreme Stretching

I use extreme stretching as per DC style training with many of my trainees. One thing I have the majority of them to before there stretches is, irregardless of the lift being done, they do a back-down 20 rep (not full out) set IMMEDIATELY following their last movement for the bodypart being worked and IMMEDIATELY before their stretch. This is especially helpful if you have been stretching for awhile and the fascia has already loosened up some.

What's the thought process behind the back-down set? Getting more blood into the muscle before the stretch? Something else?

I have found that:
- Extreme stretching helps alot with muscle soreness after a workout.
- My muscles have filled out alot quicker since starting them.
- Its great for flexibilty and decreases chance of injury (but don't overdo the stretches... know your limit).
- Increase Pump ( not like pump matters, but it feels good :D )

This is the fourth or fifth time I have heard about this Extreme Stretching thing. Anyone know where I can read a bit about it. Wait, I will search the board for it first.

its good to remember that streching tempolarily weakens the muscle.

I've noticed that in between sets of bench if I stretch because I feel tight my next set will be shitty. I'll have to remember that, thanks.

thats why if you do a tricep stretch in between your bench you bring in more of the pec to work when the tri's are in that weakened state. nice little addition to throw into your chest days.

with thie extreme stretching...is it the same as fascia stretching... also, i was just wondering since your stretching everything out in such intenese manner...could that make stretch marks worse on the areas that you are stretching?
