Fitness models, how did you get started?

Looking for some advice from a fitness model or someone who knows about the business. My partner sold my business on me so im pretty much doing nothing as of right now. I've been doing alot of reading on fitness modeling and from what im reading, most say it's really NOT that hard to get into? They say as long as your reliable and able to travel constantly you can make it?

My question is who and how did you submit yourself to? Where can I find companies and what not to "show myself off" to be eligible for a job.

Its not easy at all. Tremendous competition. you have a better chance of winning the lottery than making a years living as a fitness model.
I have photographed many. Most all have other jobs and do it for fun, ego, free or small pay checks
Invest your self and time into a good career that has a future.

you pretty much need to be in LA (i dont know about NY) if you want to do that, there are a lot of guys trying to get the jobs, and most everyones on gear. its not as hard as the above poster says, you just have to go to many many calls and keep trying.

We are here in DC. Not quite as saturated as LA model scene... but, it really is that hard. Not lots of work. Even less consistent paycheck.
You can't make a living off it. Not here.

I have shot the Oscar De Larenta fashion show 5 years and all Pro Labs sport models in the desert. I know the industry.

I would look for a good career and build your future on that.

Ive been reading that theres really NOT that much competition only becuase the industry is constantly looking for new faces which makes sense.. Why do you want 20 muscle mag covers to be of the same dude?

Not sure if this source is 100% on everything but heres one link I found explaining in detail
