Focus on GI of carbs during cutting...

... i'm still not quite sure how neurotic i should be. i'm obviously avoiding sugars in general, but here are just a few examples of concerns that have come up: i know baked potatoes are generally not the way to go. are the smaller "red" (i think also called "new") pototoes ok? i have yams and sweet pototoes too, but they aren't as convenient. also, i have a big bag of oats, but i don't know if its "1-minute" oats or not. should i just dump them and go make sure to get the right things? finally, i've been using basmati rice. my impression was that it isn't nearly as high GI as plain white rice, but i'm not sure.

for the record, i'm attempting to go from about 305 at 22% to 255 at about 8%. will be using plenty of gear and thermogenics (Clen/T3/Ephedrine/Caffeine). i've basically been in a two week acclimation phase, just to get used to everything. but when the gear gets here this week, its full go.

Don't be OVERLY concerned as the GI index is a tad over-rated. I'm not saying pig out on simple sugars but don't freak out.

Baby Red Potatos are a great choice. Please use those over idaho potatos, (as they contain way to much starch) - in comparison, and Yukon Gold are also a solid choice.

Sweet and yams are always a go-

Basamati rice is my favorite rice for flavor, but its not going to be a big difference between it and white. To be honest i have dieted on white rice for years (as i can't stand the taste of brown). I let my clients decide as there is never a problem.

As for your oats i'm sure their fine- I've been known to eat flavored oatmeal. Again no problems

Just remember that after you combine your Carbohydrate source with a protein source the MEALs GI goes way down.

Best of luck on your goals as they are very lofty.

Don't get the belief that you need plenty of gear and thermos. The diet and getting on the treadmill will be your best friend.

Thanks for the reply, Dirk. Actually, I'm old friends with Tensity and Toolifter. I just moved back into town and they are helping me out with things. They've recommended a 40/40/20 breakdown, which is apparently what they had so much success with. Based on 3455 kcals baseline, that is 345g of protein and carbs, and 77g of fat. I admit to being a little concerned with the number of carbs. Do you ever recommend changing things up based on somatype and history? I'm a heavy mesomorph. I've been a lineman my whole life, and have never been below 12% (at 235 lbs, before getting into pro ball). I've fluctuated between 305 and 315 over the last several years. My body reacts pretty well to gear, and i can usually maintain my 300lbs or so on about 3000 kcals, even while off. During my last offseason, I began a cycle and decided to eat clean for a few months with the intent of leaning up... I gained 7 lbs! Frankly, I won't be surprised if I actually gain a few pounds on this cycle/diet, before I begin to actually drop weight. I guess the point is that for some reason I feel my goal is different from Tensity's, who went from 300+lbs to shredded. I'm not a natually lean type who fought his ass off to gain weight. I'm naturally thick (both lean and fat tissue), and feel i'll be fighting genetics just to get below 10%.

Thanks for your insights.

P.S. I know that the diet and cardio are the key. Basically the gear and thermos are there because I've put on a great deal of muscle mass over the last 7 years while also getting fat to play football. I feel like I have this "one chance" to strip off all this excess fat without sacrificing all the lean tissue I've built up.
