Omniscient!
i am going to enter an amature meet this march..they let you have all three lifts and total, or you can pick one to do....if you get my meaning..i am going to bench, since i am a bench baby..lol...i want to get down to 204-206...that will be eay..but...anyone know what a respectible lift is at that weight class for an amature..this will be my first shot at it, and i am curious..i am going to compete anyhow, but i was curious..

an ameatur meet? how ameatur? lol :) its not like some YMCA bench off deal is it? regardless, with a shirt (make sure they allow denim befor ordering one) i would say 400-500?

Just to give an example, I checked the IPA records. The amateur 198 record is 535, and the amateur 220 record is 515. The pro 198 record is 625, and the pro 220 record is 665. Those are as of September of this year.

Of course, those are the records. I don't know what you would classify as "respectable."

Not a ymca gig....a regular meet...natural meet also...my max right now is 440-465...depends on how i warm up, heavy or light and the amount of sets i put in before hitting it...i would have to say that i have never really maxed out correctly...i generally throw is a set of 10, then 3 sets of 6 then go up.....the guy i am working out with is a state title holder for natural power lifting.....mike something or other....never asked his real name...got curious about the bands he uses to train, and started bs'ing from there....

...i have 3 months to boost it up....i think i should get it up there...and my max is without a shirt...

...i have always been interested in trying a meet out...since i am a bench baby anyhow i guess...

...and to me "respectable" is a good correct bench for a 204-210 pound buy over 350....

...thats just me though....the gym i train at is full of guys over 400 on bench, 500+ on squats and 500+ on deads....

...except for me on the squats...i got little leggers....i am over 500 on deads though....that is why i am not going to go with the 3 lifts for a total, i dont think i will do very weel with the lagging legs...

but, mike told me i should try it anyhow to see how it goes...still debating, but i think i am going to just stick to the bench gig...

...on the shirt gig, i was not going to order one since i am just trying this thing out...

and on an ametur meet that is natural, do they test or something, or do you sign a waiver, i was wondering since it is an ametur meet...

...as you see, i am not to informed on this..i just know when i have to be there, and i am going to ride up with mike...since he is like my coach now i rekon....he is a good bro though....

For testing, it varies per organization, and meet to meet. I can tell you though that in IPA, the pros are not tested and the amateurs can be tested. Do you know what organization the meet is sanctioned by?
