Friends don't let friends skip leg day

My legs look much worse than the guy in the pic and I never skip leg day, I have no problem building quads but I can't seem to hit calfs good enough, they don't even look like they've grown since I started lifting :(.

What do your calf exercises consist of?(types of exercises, reps, sets)

Just seated calf raises 3 sets, about 15-20 reps, I don't know any other exercises which are mainly good for calfs?
You mad bro :D Get a buddy to jump on your back whilst your bent over then do some calf raises while you suppoet yourself. it's a killer. also smith machine raises with a platform in front.

I go to gym on my own, shall I ask a random guy at the gym to jump on my back? haha jk. I wish their was more exercises for calfs it's very limitted :(

There's your problem. Standing calf raises concentrate more on the gastrocnemius. You also need to be blasting them with more sets, this is a dense muscle and needs to be punished. Next time you're in the gym, do standing calf raises on the machine made for the exercise, or smith machine. If you have to use the smith machine, grab a small step or something a few inches off the ground so you can go down further than the typical 90degree angle. This extra range of motion puts more emphasis in the excercise. I like to get in 6 solid sets of 15-30 reps doing this exercise, then I move to seated calf raises, where I get 3-4 sets of 15-20 reps(getting in partial reps at the end of every set to work past that burn) and finally I finish it off with a few sets of one legged calf raises with my bodyweight to really burn them out. You want to get in as many perfectly formed raises as possible, but you will need partial reps to get those few extra ones in there when working past the burn.

Walk uphills and downhills..like 3 miles day.Took 5 years.

I got a mean set of calves...I hardly train them in the gym.

I used to weigh 118..then gained up to 190...I guess at 190..I get plenty of simulations to the calves.

That guy in the picture maybe as he gets older..The lower leg will get smaller and smaller as if he has no muscles left there.Just Bone.Won't be able to tell if he had ligaments holding everything together.Yea...it's a disease.
But the guy I ran with had no problem doing 50 miles races. It was just fu'nking odd!

your week must suck pretty bad then brother......lol
just kiddin, the only thing I hate about leg day is that I usually feel like puking towards the end.."lol

WORD right there ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

No sweat pouring, dizzy, wanna puke......it wasn't leg day ;-)

I did legs Monday. Went straight to the local Smoothie King after the gym and puked in the parking lot in front of a crowd...pics were taken...I may be on some random guys Facebook page.

I have a new goal for next Thursday ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Mine where shaking so bad on the sled I had to hold my knees ..... lol

Walking out was like getting off The Zipper, 9hrs later they are still spent. Best leg session I've had in a very long time.

i have to make myself do legs, for me its because they are so damn sore for 2 days after, and im on my feet all day so its a drag to do

Another task for me after hitting legs hard is trying not to piss on the toilet seat/floor with my legs shaking so bad. It's like a first person shooter game set on "Extreme" mode.

standing calf raises >>>> seated raises

Standing calf raises hit the gastrocnemius which is the main muscle in the calf. Get on those standing calf raises in the 5-10 rep range if you actually want to get out of chicken leg mode.

squats are the only way to big legs... end of discussion

Not the only way, but usually the best way.

Legs are my favorite and least favorite day. Completely love/hate. Just did them this morning and already DOMS are setting in.
