Gaining Mass questions???

right i gotcha, so for mass, what foods are least beneficial? I got him eating 6 times a day whether hes hungry or not, force it.

Well, food is food. Composed of calories and calories will supply energy, but you don't want him sitting there eating cheesesteaks and burgers all day. Provide a nice balance of carbs and fats with a large emphasis on proteins. Make sure he's getting in his EFA's (essential fatty acids) such as his omega-3's and omega-6 fatty acids. Make sure he's taking in a sufficient amount of carbs and a crap load of protein. His protein intake should be at least 1.5g/lb. Heck, he weights 150 lbs...I'd recommend no less than 250g/protein a day. One gram of protein is equivelant to four calories, so calories from his protein intake should total no less than 1,000 calories. As alluded to before, stick to lean meats, chicken breast is my favorite, tuna, egg whites, and other dairy items are high in protein, as well as fish.

thanks Meth and Tommy, I got him on weight gainer which is 950 calories per shake, in between i emphasised proteins, chicken, tuna egg whites, ground pork actually has 72g protein in 8 oz! so I think, thanks to you guys, Im gonna wait before i stick'm, and Meth hes been off and on with the gym for 5 years, but he is a carpenter and he has been in shape because his job is so demanding of him. So he doesnt sit around all day and eat crap, if anything he just never had time to eat big till he got home, but Im changing that next week. I know when i was cutting i ate 6 times a day small portions, do you recommend the same but bigger portions? or 3 big meals with shakes between?

ok I thought maybe that might work against him because when you eat that frequent the metabolism speeds up and breaks down the calories which in turn would make him lose what he put on.

Theres no winning with you guys, you yell at fat guys that want a little edge by saying lose weight fat ass, then when i got a guy that is 150, you tell me gain weight idiot. Im no trainer by any means, but I've been both fat and skinny, I know what it takes and as far as training, i just want to make sure hes using correct form and guide him thru the routine. His bro was the same weight 4 years ago and he did his test with deca and blew up, so whats the difference being 150 or 170 really? I think your splitting hairs here.

well siad mate i wouldent lissen to half this crap....

he's 150 and wants get bigger... so what thats the name of the game GETTING BIGGER....

all you lot are doin is slagin him off....at 5.9 he doss need to eat more FOOD tell him

1st of all my response was that I didnt agree with you, not a personal attack so dont get all bitchy.

2nd of all its not JUST 20 lbs. If you weigh 150lbs "20 pounds" is nearly 15% of your total body weight. More importantly, doing things the right way has a lot to do with your long term gains... Personally if I knew a guy who was 28 years old, training for years, and somehow only managed to weigh 150 lbs it would be clear he couldnt possibly eat enough, and his "training" was complete bullshit.

I cycled when I was younger a couple times.. they turned into what I look back at and laugh...Im sure some of the older guys in here could attest to that.

Oh and one more thing... if you had your boy eating and training like you claim you will, he wouldnt weigh 150 lbs. Youre doing the kid an injustice by starting him out now, he could easily follow a simple bulk diet & train properly, gain at least 15-20 lbs, and then use when he already has his routine down, knows his weights, knows how to eat, knows how to train he could get on the gear and explode.... In gaining those 15-20 lbs he will learn himself, he will learn how to hit muscles, how to eat & train & make necessary sacrifices to his diet and daily schedule...these mental aspects are why some people get amazing results, and others get big for 6 weeks and deflate and end up posting that they have no nuts and dont know what pct is.

If youre looking for a "study" that will prove your theory on the 20 lbs you probably wont find it. Live and learn my friend.

Definitely 5-7 meals a day. keep the metabolism burning as alluded to before by meth. Don't over do it with the shakes, make sure a majority of his cals are coming from wholesome foods.

Just start him off slow then build up.... the training time of 2 hours is a hell of a lot for a beginner! unless your thinking of a good warm up (cardio) and warm down.

Like me i was 176 lbs when i started and it took 1 year to put on 28 lbs naturally with a good diet and heavy lifting ... point is every one is different.

Some people have a fast met rate so sort out the diet get him used to it naturally then think about going for some juice..... but hey it wont kill him!

Patience is a virtue usually

If your training him, whos training you? Just trying to figure this out cause you're asking how you should train him?
