general mental health for the boys

blakey

I am banned!
Righto
Being a steroid forum nearly everything on this fourm that has anything to do with health is about physical health as it should be but in just wondering what you guys do to keep a healthy mind whilst on and off cycle ???
Me personally being a martial artist from a traditional Japanese background have always practiced some forms of meditation , breathing exercises and lifting some iron always helps clear the mind and get some aggression/anger out .
That being said it's been a few years since I have practiced any of these techniques or martial arts and having recently lost my job I've found myself sitting around the house not doing a great deal except hitting the weight and I've been depressed tired anxious and this is only after about 2 weeks of not working . I just don't feel myself and even with more spare time on my hands my cycle is suffering I'm losing my appetite and generally feel shit and yes my est is in check
I was just wondering what some of you guys do to keep your body and mind working together . I'm still lifting every day but it just seems as if I'm going through the motions its hard to explain but if I'm having a shitty day stressing about $$$$ and finding a new job and feeling sorry for myself like a little girl even when I workout that night still lifting the same as per usual I find that I have a shit pump at the end of my session even thought physically I'm still doing the same workout .
Anyhow let me know what you boys think

The gym is my "meditation". I learned long ago that there are penalties for physically acting on impulses to show folks you don't like how they're treating you, so I now bottle that up, and use it in the gym. Keeps me out of trouble, and can make for some pretty damn intense sessions.

I feel 1000x better afterwards too. :)

Geez, I went without a job for a couple years as I had relocated for the wife's career change, then became a stay at home father. It was kind of nice at first, I didn't have much of a set schedule anymore, but it does wear you down if it's against your nature.

I couldn't handle THAT MUCH free time. I suppose if I had tons of money in the bank it would have been different, as I'm sure I'd have gone fishing every day, but it just wore me down.

I found that by keeping myself occupied I was able to power through the day. This meant going to the gym twice a day (joined a gym with a daycare), keeping the house/cars clean, and eventually what led going back to school - future planning.

Hope that helps. :)

Haha yes the stay at home dad thing is defiantly different I do like spending a bit more time with my young fella . and don't get me wrong going to the gym helps I love it and since I stopped the martial arts and meditation I guess its my new meditation as well it's a good way to clear your mind and like you said get out those emotions we all bottle up out in a constructive way . I might start working out twice a day like you said and see how that goes .
Like you said brother if I had squillions in the bank I'd be more than happy to go fishing gyming and riding motorcycle every day but that's not the case and to be honest its weird not having structure get up at 5 go to work come home dinner gym has been engrained into me after 10 years of doing it over and over I suppose haha
It all helps brother thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences on the subject

Speaking of fishing I might go dig my steamer and speargun out of the garage and go for a fish tomorrow
