Getting off TRT to enlist in the Army. Need advise.

Like many have said in previous posts i also think it is a horrible idea. I was in Finland as a coastal jaeger (marine commando) and buddy let me tell you something, i joined at 19 and that shit was no joke. I can only imagine what it would be like at very low to no test production at all. My last bloods were at 611ng/dl and i would hesitate doing it over even at those levels. Is not just the physical strain but the psychological mind fucks they put you through in training that will break you down. As well as the stamina part of the job. Now considering also where i was in Finland it is Arctic conditions 9 months of the year but even without those conditions i dint think you would be able to pull through. Just my 2 cents but good luck bro

Good advise. Ive never met or knew anyone in the Air Force. I always assumed everyone chose the army cause it was easier. I will look more into that. Another option I was playing with was the Coast Guards. They have the same benefits as the Army, yet with no chance of being deployed overseas.

The Coast Guard fights drug runners - which at times is far more dangerous than fighting an enemy army. Drug runners are far more afraid of their bosses than they are of anyone else.

Just want to add another voice for the Air Force. I was talking to one of my friends the other day, who is an officer and she was saying that it is by far the most like a regular job/company of all the armed forces. They still own you once you enlist, but the fuck overs you get are way less than in any other branch. Especially if you are interested in Engineering and Technology, definitely go Air Force.

Yeah. The deployments are usually only 3-6 months at a time.

I signed up to the Navy and ended up with the Marines... as everyone knows... the military is full of acronyms. NAVY - Never Again Volunteer Yourself. If you are joining to get an education / take care of the family... Do TWO things. First DON'T go off of TRT... NO ONE will benefit... and Second.... go Air Force. Seriously... My best friend and I went in at the same time... He went Air Force I went Navy (had some "issues" on my record).... anyway, He now works at a desk job making $60,000 a year and I make $40,000. I wish I would have waited and got my record cleaned.

If the OP is still interested, there is an option for him, its called Nebido, its a special ester of testosterone, which should last for around 4 months in i remember correctly. look it up.

I'll just give you some food for thought to the OP but ultimately the decision is yours...You will be dq'd from military service for TRT as an initial entry soldier. I was on trt for about 1 1/2 years and a baseline tt level of 210 when I enlisted in the Army, before leaving for basic I blasted HCG 1000iu every day for 10days then on the last day of HCG I took one shot of 100mcg of triptorelin then I began 4weeks of clomid at 25mg every day along with 60mg of toremifine I then waited 2weeks and did the 4 week course of clomid and torem again at the same dose....I left for Infantry Osut about a week after finishing the second round of Pct.....I completed Infantry Osut(basic training and infantry AIT) Airborne school and several other schools immediately following Airborne school. My point is you can do it if it's what you want and when you get done with training you can jump back on trt if you want, no one will know and no one will care. As far as getting your trt on deployment, you will get it through express scripts through tricare which will be mailed to you, you won't have to go with out it....another thing I hope you realize is, an engineer in the Army is not the same as an engineer in the civillian world, you may want to research that....Also something else I'll say is you should be joining the military no matter what branch or job for the love of your country and not trying to get what you can get and dodge deployments, because if
You go in with that attitude you are going to be miserable and you might aswell stay home.....If you have any other questions feel free to pm me anytime

1 shot to last for 4 months....
Doesn't sound appealing to me.

You wont make it threw basic coming off Testosterone. Going threw basic with 200 ng/dl sucked like hell, being at 0 ng/dl i cant imagine.

Im not just saying that because its a tough it out thing. Im saying it because you wont be able to sustain all the physical training they will be putting you threw. They expect you to run what they tell you to run, ruck as far you they tell you to ruck, do as many pushups as they tell you, situps, obstacle courses, 0500 wakeup with lights out at 2100. Low crawling threw dirt and mud after being physically exhausted (smoked) for 4 hours.

Its non stop. People in top physical condition and Testosterone levels going in are struggling like crazy, getting broken down and beat up, with no time to recover. Once they see you struggling they are going to make sure to pay extra attention to you, they are going to smoke you longer, yell at you more, keep you up longer, and make life hell for you.

They are doing this to try to toughen you up, wont they wont realize is that one HUGE problem you have, no testosterone at all. Your body will shut down, so they will push you harder and make it worse. I'm not trying to scare you, just telling you what will happen and letting you know that is NOT a good idea.

I was a Sniper in the Army so I was in Infantry OSUT, but whatever MOS you have may not be AS rough, but its not going to be a stroll in the park. Trust me, its not a good idea.

This happened to me after pushing thru a training camp for recreational sport 2 months off Restart. TT was in the 400's too!
Everything felt exhausting. I was sore for over a week. Cortisol, CK, liver enzymes were all over the place. My body basically shut down. Panic attacks with hypoglycemia no doubt for putting my body thru hell. Remember, when your body is low in T your adrenals are gonna be fucked especially when over straining.
This guy is in for a rough time. I don't wish to be in his place as I lived thru it.

Thanks bro. I am also from Florida. What you stated is pretty much exactly what I am trying to do. As far as deployment, I have no problem if I do. My only issue is if I deploy for really long periods of time is will I be able to get my meds. I know once enlisted I really have no choice in the matter. But that is a risk I am willing to take. TRT is not a serious condition that requires medical treatment at all time. I know my duties may be a bit harder but I have function in the past without it. Anyhow, I decided to stick with the Army Reserves after getting the run around with the Air Force. I am waiting for one piece of paperwork and will be scheduled for MEPS where I will also take my ASVAB. Your statement here along with a lot others really did help and I thank you for that.

Update

I am off TRT (prescribed at least)

For MEPS question #49

(49) Taking any medications (If so, list reason in Item 2b.)

My answer is now (NO)

But, for question #72

(72) Taken medication, drugs, or any substance to improve attention, behavior, or physical performance (2)(1)(6)

Does TRT classify as this? (YES OR NO)

There was some questions about nebido. I read a little bit about it. Some people say it has a half life of aproximately 21 days. Testosterone peaks one week after injection. When you start using it, they recomend injections every 6 week, when you have been on for some time(as testosterone builds up-at least it should), they recommend injections every 10 to 14 week, i believe that is closer to 10 than 14. Usualy you inject 4ml/1000mg at a time.

Hey bro I know this is a little late but wanted to answer incase others had a similar question. As far as trt after you get done with basic and AIT get the tricare reserve select insurance go to a Doc get your trt prescribed and call Tricares Express scripts and set up home delivery. If you are deployed just call them and tell them where your at, it is ALOT simpler to go with express scripts for that as I had blue cross/blue shield on my first deployment and it was a pain to get plus test, anastrozole and hcg is free from express scripts. As far as answering questions about past medical use I wouldn't tell them about trt
