Has TRT ever not worked for someone?

I know everyone reacts differently to just about anything you can put in your body but.. it seems like everyone who shares their experience with TRT have had nothing but good to sat. more energy, sex drive, feel younger, stronger, well being, confidence etc... I am not looking to begin TRT just curious because it still is a relitavely new thing and there are limited studies on it, just want to gain some knowledge. Thanks!

It happens. More frequently than that is some methods fail so others must be employed. For example serm therapy may not work so they may try HCG monotherapy which also may not work so test injections must be employed. It depends on if you are primary or secondary hypogonadal as to which method might be employed successfully. Also as was said in a very very small % of cases nothing will work.

I'm coming up on one year of TRT and it hasn't done anything for my symptoms. The docs can't find anything else wrong with me, so it looks like I'm one of the unlucky ones.

What is your SHBG at? And what was your TT at before your went on TRT?

i dont get why people think trt is some magic cure..

youre not supposed to feel anything special lol..

I'm getting my SHBG tested on Monday. My original TTL was at 200 (I think the range was 300-800-ish if I remember correctly). Currently taking 180mg of test once per week and my last TTL was at 633 (range 348-1197), blood drawn at 8am, just before my scheduled weekly injection.

Really? It seems most of the folks here report that they feel much better after getting dialed in. Fatigue reduced or gone, brain fog disappears, libido improved, erectile function improved. That, to me, would be pretty special.

True, but if one addresses any lifestyle/diet/psychological issues, and short of a different diagnosis that would explain the symptoms, it seems to leave few options.

so i can assume youve gone through all these variables?

As much as possible. Vegan diet for the past few years (plenty of protein), no depression, I keep stress as low as possible. I think the only place I fall short is exercise. I'm just too damned fatigued to workout hard, but I do as much as I can muster.

youre on a vegan diet??

hummm.. care to share it with us?

Sure. Do you want the salad or beans and rice I brought for lunch? :)

*Edit: I'll do a writeup of my typical daily meal plan and start a new thread. I don't want to completely hijack this thread. Oh, and the hypogonadal symptoms started loooong before I went vegan. The switch to a cleaner diet was part of an effort to eliminate nutrition as a factor in the crappy way I was feeling.

I said I'd start a new thread, but fuggit, I'll hijack this one anyway. Sorry GboyTee.

Here you go 3J, thanks for your input. Keep in mind this is a lifelong diet so it varies quite a bit. I don't pay attention to micros or macros, I just try to eat as clean as possible without obsessing.

Breakfast- Protein powder mixed with water, peice of fruit, handful of nuts.

Snack- 1/4 protein bar

Lunch- salad (romaine/spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes olives, carrots, shrooms, fake chicken sometimes, french dressing diluted 50% with water)
or
Beans and rice with mixed veggies
or
Veggie/rice/bean burritos with guacomole

Snack- 1/4 protein bar, nuts, fruit

Dinner- Veggie burger, grilled mixed veggies
or
Kung Pao veggies with tofu
or
Beans and rice with veggies
or
Pasta with marinara and fake ground beef, bread
or
Pav Bahji (smooshed up veggies with Indian spices and a bread roll)

Snack- protien bar if my protein intake was low that day.

Water intake- usually about 3/4 of a gallon.

No soda, very little refined sugar, very little fried food (see cheats below).

Cheats- About once a week I'll have an order of french fries or some potato chips. A couple of times per week I have a some beer. Love me some Fat Tire and St. Arnold's.

Living la vida loca!

hehe, are u sure those protein powders and protein bars are vegan? otherwise vegan diet can be pretty diverse, and i totally support it. But i dont support the vegans that hate meat-eaters. I think its totally safe to include some chicken from time to time, but the vegans just wont do it because then they wont be able to call themselfs vegans. They are so proud lol.
I know to many guys that went from 2lbs chicken a day to complete vegan. lol those are abit funny. abit offtopic

Yes, I'm sure the protein powders and bars are vegan. I didn't go vegan just so I can call myself a vegan and I don't hate meat eaters. It's a personal choice for me, both from an ethical and health standpoint, but what anybody else does is none of my business as long as it doesn't negatively impact me or my family.

What is your SHBG at?

I got my labs back and here is the info on SHBG:

Sex Horm Binding Glob, Serum 23.6 (range 16.5-55.9 nmol/L)

I'll now switch from weekly injections to very 3.5 days, and I'm also going to stop using an AI to let my estrogen get a little higher in hopes of raising SHBG.

Your SHBG looks good.

I don't believe increasing estrogen levels will increase your SHBG. What are you basing that on? Thyroid has more of an influence non SHBG.
