HCG - long term side effects? dangers?

So I don't take any meds lightly, I'm not about to take something long term that I don't fully know the dangers of. I keep hearing people say HCG with TRT is awesome and a must etc... Are there any known side effects on heart/liver/cholesterol from it? what is it? is it mimicking a hormone or is it some chemical? I tried to google info but mostly came up with unrelated dieting stuff and dr. oz articles...

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is a hormone found largely in pregnant women. The stuff we inject was actually originally made from their urine if you can imagine that!

The only potential issue I've ever read is that it may cause desensitization of certain receptor sites over time, so taking off a couple weeks after six months has been suggested in my readings.

Other than that however, it's a natural hormone that enables us men to function as if we were still producing naturally.

Its a Leutenizing hormone mimetic.
LH signals the leydig cells in the testis to produce testosterone. Taking HCG offers a few benefits. It allows the leydig cells to maintain function while you are shut down. This is a good thing. It also helps backfill hormonal pathways that woud normally be shut down as well, another good thing. A couple things to remember is that you should take it at a low dose. Very high doses cause the leydig cells to become desensitized. This effect is more dose dependant than duration dependant so just keep doses on the lower end. I would say under 1000iu's/week would ensure that this does not occur. I really like the 250iu's/2x/week protocol.
You may need to keep an eye on your e2 as the added production of test will also increase aromatization but again , low dosing of HCG minimizes this concern as well.
Overall if taken properly it offers several physical and psychological benefits that make it a worthwhile addition to your trt protocol as well as to a cycle.
Hope that helps. If you have any other questions ask away. Much like yourself I dont venture lightly into taking more compounds so when I started using hcg years ago I did a bunch of research on it and its use so I have a decent grasp on what it is, what it does, and why it can be beneficial.

thanks for the great responses guys, having a hard time finding anything negative on it's use so it sounds like something I'll likely do from the start... waiting for my first appt on monday has been agonizing for some reason. sitting around waiting for an appt that could either result in my life being awesome again or a circle jerk of nonsense is kind of nerve racking for me...

Ohhh, just wait until you get diagnosed then have to wait for further tests and then the wait for it to build up in your system. ;)

Just to add in, you have been making your own LH your entire life. hCG just replaces it now that you are shut down.

as long as the initial appt goes well and he seems receptive after seeing my blood work I'm sure I'll feel a lot better. I want this going fast and my wife will be there to push him along, hoping he will draw blood to reconfirm test is low and order any other things for diagnosis right then and there so we can get everything rolling. as long as that happens, i'll be happy.
