A friend of mine has been getting these headaches while lifting lately, he had never had the problem before... hes been lifting for about 2 yrs and spent some time in military school.

He was doing delt raises and when he was close to complete failure he complained about a killer headache right in the middle of the back of his head. He says it faded to a dull headache for about 36hrs. He decided to take a week off and try again, same thing happened.

Hes 185lbs 20yrs old, only thing he takes is the one-a-day multi vitamin. He takes in about 3/4 a gallon of water a day.

anyone have any ideas why the headaches started ? and how to fix em ?

Well, one thing is, his water intake is WAY too low, but that shouldn't cause headaches suddenly and during a workout, although one of the first signs of dehydration is a severe headache (hangovers are caused by dehydration, FYI).

Could also be high blood pressure....occasionally during my workouts, I get lightheaded, blurry vision, headaches, etc. and I've eventually discovered that my systolic is getting up around 200, and my diastolic is around 140, DURING THE WORKOUT's and it's only like 120/50 resting. Intense exercise greatly elevates the BP, to an extent that you probably don't want to imagine. That is most likely the cause of the headache, IMO.

The water intake is too low for an active person, although like Froggy said, that shouldn't cause sudden headaches. He's probably right about the high blood pressure.
