I work out HARD, I do lot 8-12 reps and up to 5 sets, I FAIL on each set before I stop. And it's really strenueos..

but.. the next day.. I don't feel sore, and if i do.. it's very little.. anyone know the deal??

Exactly! You don't have to be soar to grow or make progress. I am usually only soar after I take a layoff and am only soar the 1st week back. After that I am rarely ever soar so don't worry mate!

oh ok awesome dude.. I thought I had to feel sore to know the muscles were rippin and repairing but guess not, I was thinkin maybe i was doin somethin wrong but i was confused because my brother is a professional body builder and I lift with him every day and he's always helpin me out so it wasnt makin any sense i wasnt sore. but its all falling into place thanks again

Just to add my two cents, I have always heard after the initial phase of starting to lift, if you are still getting sore than you are not consuming enough calories, or you are overtraining. Now, if you switch up your routine and shock the muscles than you might get sore. Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, as it is called, has baffled those in the field of Kinesiology for years. Some say it is small tears in the muscle, others argue it is built up lactic acid. Who knows, and does it matter?

well your 2 cents is appreciated, so what you're saying is that i'm fine and if i do start feeling sore im not getting enough calories or im over training. awesome, thanks for the input

Well, now it's time for my .02 I have worked out with basically no layoff (well, no layoff over a week anyway) for the past 7 or so years, and I still get sore as HELL around 36 hours post workout. It's not lack of calories or overtraining; I get a minimum of 3000-3500 kcals for maintenance, and I am on a 4 day split working each bodypart once. Only variable that could affect that is sleep, since I average 5 1/2 to 6 hours per night during school.

So i'm pretty much set with my sleeping habits and diet? + the creatine and glutamine? .. hehe

I average about 9-12 hours of sleep a night, except school nights i get 7-8. Not sure on my calorie intake.. I prob should watch that a little more.

Well, not exactly. How much protein do you get per day? The common recommendation is 1-1.5g/lb bodyweight per day, but for someone of your leanness, which indicates a very fast metabolism, I'd recommend about 2g/lb/day.

thanks bast i'll start upping my protein diet. But.. it's sort of hard to for me to find a lot of protein during the day.

for example, I can get a good 80grams through supplements and a good another 70-80 through tuna and hard boiled eggs, but it's not like I have excess fish laying around the house or a whole lot of meat.

Any ideas on where else I can find some extra protein?

More shakes. I'd estimate that a full 75% or more of my protein intake comes from Optimum Nutrition, simply because of the shitty menu offered here in the cafeteria.

god damn cafeterias.. I never eat at school.. so shitty..

anyway, so like i was saying.. a good 80grams of protein comes from shakes.. and another 80 or so from eggs, tuna, and meat.

I need a way to supplement another 80! how can this be achieved?

Eat high protein bars throughout the day and keep drinking shakes. I am not a fan of attempting to choke down any shake with more than 45 grams of protein in one sitting, except right after lifting. I drink 3 or 4 throughout the day, with at least 20 - 30 grams each. The rest of the 200-275 grams a day I get from food and a protein bar in the mid morning.
