hELP!! I am ridiculously disproportionate. Big upper body\and chicken legs..Help!!

ill go 60% of a work set on these. may try it tomorrow if i got a spot.

i will let you know or cuss you out one or the other. my bigest prob is gonna be not gettin sick. i almost always get sick after/during isquats esp during HIT.

If all goes right, you'll be cussing me but I know you'll mean it in the nicest possible way, lmao.

Yea, I almost always have some grub come back up during that. Having a spot is critical, both mentally and physically.

now that's what I call a workset :p

thanks for the vid pb !

that short bastard was smiling the whole time. :D

the most impressive thing about this is that this is old as hell. back then a 500 squat was something much less 23 of them. plus he has a groin injury as you can see the pain in his face the first few reps on descent.

tough to tell if he had knee wraps but he is wearing a squat suit under his clothes. looks like he got knee wraps but none the less thats why he got them tree trunks for legs. very nice set. those legs were on fire at the end.

well i treid it today. yu got cussed up one side and down the other I may add.

wasnt sure how much weight to use so i put 3 plates on each side. (hack squats)

set one 15 reps no prob

stopped long enough to load a 10lber and start again, maybe 15 secs.

set two 10 reps and my legs were on fire. so i stopped for about 30secs and added another 10lber.

set three, 10 more reps and my freakinloegs were so tight i locked up.

stopped for about 30 secs and loaded another 10lber

set four, 8 reps and the pump was incredible. i could not bend my legs

stopped and loaded a 10lber, 30 secs maybe

set 5 only another 8 reps and i was toast. hit the door and blew my goceries.

you have to remember that sets of 10 are cardio for me. :D

this was 51 reps in just a few mintues. it was more than my PLing ass could take.

thats all i did and went home.

i will try it again and see if i can get my reps up.

no shit my legs are toast from that little bit of weight.

thanks for the routine tensity. i owe ya one.

LOL! Pullin, I ain't laughing at you, I'm laughing with you brother. I been there. Hell, doing PL or not, the those high reps are a lot for anybody but yea, probably a greater impact on you iron movers

Starting with 3 plates on hack, you're a brave man, the most I've ever started with is 2 plates and a quarter. Plus adding 10lbs each time instead of 5, nuts. Don't know if you had a partner or not (doesn't sound like it) but it usually takes us ~60+ secs between sets after the other guy is done, changing/adding weight, etc. Maybe next time start lower, add just 2 1/2s each side = 5lbs and take more rest, it's worth it.

Glad you "liked" it. Got another one to share if you're interested, maybe we can swap :D

no pard, jes my fat ass. you said 60% of a good work set. 3 plates/side is below 50% on hacks for me.

thought you said 5lbs per side. my bad. no really......

longer break snext time. ahh.......... sounds good.

next time i start at same weight and add 5lbs each time and take a longer break.

plus i do my hacks all the way down. as far as i can go and dont cut them short.

my legs where so full of blood that i could not walk cause they wouldnt bend. lower back was pumped, hip fexors where tight too.

yeah post another torture routine. i dont have a meet coming up so i'll try some BBing stuff for a while.

BTW my legs are sore today which means tomorrow i'll be hurtin fo sho.

thanks bubba.

I'm with ya on hacks, gotta get in the bucket! Another tip I've used before is not always adding that 5lbs if I struggled with a weight in the higher reps, just to hopefully save some for when the single reps come.

The other shocker I like to do time to time is 10x10 of squats, same weight but no more than 45 sec rest and getting DEEP. Again, using ~60% of 3-5 rep max. I have to have a pard for that though. Obviously it's 100 reps and sweet moses does it blow you up.

I've mentioned this in other posts but because of powertraining for college f-ball, my knees are pretty shot. No cartiliage left under either cap, just bone on bone. So I'm limited to how they feel one leg day to the next on what movements I can do. Pisses me off cuz they don't do over a 1/3 of lifts we used to (squat cleans, "box rox", etc) now knowing what we do physiologically speaking. After that, I followed WSB principles for about 3 years as much as I could when I was doing PL (8 years ago) and really liked the strength of course.

I'm just at 6'5" and long legs. They're strong but trying to overload 'em for growth gets problematic. Now that I've gone into BB I have to pack on some mass. I've begun a split routine, quads 2x week, one day low rep heavy weight and other day high rep, lighter weight. I think they are beginning to respond. Wanted to ask your thoughts on anything I could incorporate movement or principle wise that may benefit stimulating muscle growth?

I've got my first show pics from April in the forum if you want to check it out, only fair. Thanks Big.

wow with bum kness you kinda stuck. how does it feel when you wrap them tight? if this helps just load up on yur heavy day and hit 2x6 or 1x10. followed up with box squats 2x4-6 and leg presses 1x10 or hacks 1x 10. for me heavier weights build better strength therefore size.

good luck and thanks fo the training tips. i'll give it a try. prob is i hit 655 for 5 las titme i did sets of five. so we loking at 395 for the sets. thats a light weight for me but i'll need to build up my endurance.

i do my posterior on a differnt day so hams get it then.

Hmm, I pretty much quit wrapping when I stopped PL. I did love the stability I felt when they were snug and could explode for sure. I guess I haven't ever made up my mind about the argument between wrapping preventing assistant muscles/tendons/etc getting stronger themselves vs. not being a concern when doing heavy low rep work to increase strength that will translate into size. Plus I feel like a puss if I wrap and I'm not going for a new 1RM or PL sets, lol.

And SOB, your 5 rep sets are heavier than my best ever squat (585). Maybe you could go even lighter for that 10x10, just a thought but you're right it does take endurance.

I hit my hams on the light quad days, it's a good combo so far. Anyhow, thanks for the suggestions bro, I appreciate it.

since you got knee probs try squatting with them and the extra support may help and enable you to squat heavy again.

BTW my best deep 1rpm is 805. i hadnt squatted heavy in a year due to injuries so one day i said F'it and hit the 805. it went up easy.

i'll give it a shot with 315 and see what happens next week or later. i like the hacks routine and dont like to give up/quit on something. its very different for me. i mean we talking well over 100 reps in just a few minutes.

Cool, looks like I'll be wrapping again on the 'dem heavy days.

Yea, I like the 15,14,13 routine more than the 10X10. Take the breathers, 100+ reps isn't a rushed workout, lol.

You're in NC right, anywhere near Ashville? Got a buddy who did some national PL a few years ago in the 242s lives there.
