How Long Do I Need To Eat After Training

Guys I train at 3pm each day and eat a good clean bulking diet the rest of the day, finally ending at night with casium or cottage cheese before bed.....my question is if I'm not training the next day do I still need to eat more then normal when I wake up at 8am ? or can I use the next day for cutting as I want to try and drop some bodyfat ?

Really what I'm asking is, is my body still trying to grow the next morning ?

Cheers, S ( UK Citizen ) :insane2:

I have those same questions too. I workout 3 days a week with one day cardio on the weekend. I wonder too how much to eat on the day off because I'm trying to drop my body fat overall.

i typically eat the same on workout and non workout days (when im gaining weight). On workout days, one of my meals is just replaced with a PWO shake.

you body continuously grows, it doesnt just grow for a certain amount of time after the workout. so if your goal is to gain weight, eat the same amount of calories during on and off days, your body needs the calories to grow.

also, eating high calorie on workout days in order to build muscle, and eating lower calories on off days to burn fat doesnt work. Its best to concentrate on one of the other for months at a time.

a simple rule for lean mass gains is eat for what you are going to do not for what you did. Fuel your body is the philosophy behind this.

i am with husky guy, lets not over analyze everything...

Just eat big to get big and focus on protein ...if you are carb sensitive then curb carbs and do cardio, but if u are like me..I have to sometimes have oats w\my nightime shake.

Its sad at the amount of food i have to eat to gain. I really never feel good durring the day...always full .

I'm surprised no one really has a 100% answer for this I mean it's a pretty important and obvious question that you think someone would have done some REAL research on..alot of people are just voicing there opinion without any real evidence.

I mean what the hell is the point in me eating lots or protein the next day, feeling dehydrated ( having to drink 10gallons of water) and stuffed if there is no benifit! For all I know there is no point eating bucket loads more then 4hrs after training ...surely someone would have done some research on muscle growth duration after training so at least to give me some guidelines!

There used to be some clever people on this board whats happened to them ?

:insane2:

stop overanalyzing. you dont just eat a bunch of protein for x amount of hours after a workout, build muscle, then call it quits. The muscle breakdown/recovery process is ongoing. In order to build muscle, you need to take in more calories than youre burning continuously for weeks/months, not hours.

Urgh!

I'm not over-analyzing anything it's a pretty simple question.

Obviously Suareezay if I eat lots of protein a week after training it is going to have squat effect on how much I grow...

So here lies the question there must be a finite amount of time after I train that I can help boost muscle growth.

Now is that 24hrs / 36hrs or 48hrs I don't know but I'm sure someone has done a study to show how long after weight training that muscle cells requires extra nutrients.

Anyone is free to reply apart from Suareezay :insane2:

for some reason, i actually looked up an answer to this pointless fucking question

Tipton and colleagues (2003) examined responsiveness of protein synthesis for a day after a workout, and found it to reflect a 24 hour enhanced level. That’s right folks, a FULL DAY! This means that having a morning shake will have the same impact on muscle protein synthesis as one consumed following the workout!

These results shouldn’t be too surprising because we’ve known for over a decade that postworkout protein synthesis is jacked up for this long (MacDougall et al., 1995), but if you’re discovering this for the first time, then it’s pretty exciting!

Some research suggests that even 48 hours after the workout our protein synthesis levels can be elevated by ~33% (Phillips et al., 1997), giving us an even longer period during which we can maximize our muscle growth with protein drinks.

but what difference does it make anyway? are you planning on eating for x amount of hours after a workout and then stopping? If so...have fun with that.

You don't get it do you! so I shall spell it out to you "I am clean bulking" and for the cheap seats even louder "I AM CLEAN BULKING" that means I don't want to shovel shed loads of food into my mouth unless I need to. Now this might come as a shock to a fat slob like yourself walking around with lard wobbling everywhere...but I have to be veeeery carfull with how much food I need on none training days so I CUT yes that word you don't U N D E R S T A N D...Urgh it's like talking to a monkey....a fat one. :insane2:

oh, I apologize Sarah-Jane, i didnt know you were "clean bulking". Now i understand...

...That youre a dipshit.

But have fun with youre bulking-on-training-days-cutting-on-off-days approach:laugh:

btw im about 8-9% bodyfat right now

ha ha :D he's calling you a fat shi$ ...since your such a professional at only 8% BF maybe you should post some pics...I'll shut my fat a$$ mouth if your mangled brain can produce better results then me ;)
