Maybe once every two months me and my brother (training partner) do rush sets (our name for them). I go, he goes, I go, he goes, I go, he goes. Normally though we wait between 1 and 1.5 mins. No longer unless we're squatting. I like to fuck around with my muscles and make them grow constantly.

Sweets and I train together so it's whenever he or I are done with our set. About five minutes.

On legs and back it's a little harder to gauge as we usually can each get our own rack. I'd have to say 6 or 7 minutes for me. I need recovery time or I'd burn out after two sets.

My body always lets me know how long to wait in between sets . Basically when my heart rate slows i do the next set usually 2 to 3 min is average it also depends how hard im pushing.

Really depends I always change rest time as another way of changing up my workout so it don't get stale. Such as supersets, or long rests when doing power workouts.

i will sometimes use a heart rate monitor and keep my heart rate between 120 and 150 during my workout. but for high endurance i will employ supersets with opposing muscle groups and drop sets on the last superset. when i do that i only rest between each superset, and the rest period is about 30 seconds to 45 seconds. sometimes a minute when it becomes too much. i have come close to puking and fainting several times doing it this way. its not the best thing for size but for me physical endurance is very important. it is also a great method for burning calories if you are cutting. not to mention the fact that if you bust your ass all the way through a workout you can be done with a full body HST routine in 30 minutes flat.

It's hard to pick only one of the choices, but It pretty much depends on what bodypart you are training or what are you training for.

I take as long a break as I need to. For big compounds I can take a few minutes depending on the weight and # of reps, for isolations, I do supersets to save time. Heart rate isn't really a factor in hypertrophy.

I let my body tell me when i am ready for another set.....which is usually around 45 seconds per set.....that is for mass building.....but for when i do heavy core training (squats, deads, etc..), i usually rest around 2-3 min.

damn. i feel bad now. i usually wait at least 10-15 minutes between sets. I want to be fully recovered so i can get all that i have coming to me on every set. but i normally only do m1 or 2 worksets unless we are doing a specialized program. but onb squat day or dead day 10 minutes minimum. good luck all.

i disagree. try doing your worksets with a heart rate of 185 and see if you grow. that is the whole point of resting between sets. to allow the heart rate to go back to a low resting rate. that is key to hypertrophy, otherwise you will burn muscle.

I kind of targetted that at those who say your heart rate has to be high to gain. But you're not going to burn muscle doing your sets at a high heart rate. You may fail as a result of exhaustion; constant exhaustion could cause catabolism though.
