how much is enough?

Sugar and salt....

known to keep bodybuilders behind, and i am allways hearing cut sugar cut salt.

how much sugar is a good amount per day and allso how much salt...

i saw a articel a while back on sugar, saying that it decreases your building blocks.(they said its the amount that you can grow at a time).obviously allso causes fat.
allso, can i rather add honey or brown sugar to my oats? just cant eat it without sweet stuff..

and well salt keeps water back?

or is there other stuff to it.

i want to start eating better to get better results from the gym...
 
The whole "cut sugar cut salt" thing is for your "average" person who is eating garbage food that's overprocessed and high in sodium and refined sugar.

For a guy that watches what he eats, consumed unrefined/unprocessed food, you will probably find yourself having to ADD salt if you're an athlete. I know I often add a pinch of salt here and there, or go with reduced sodium chicken stock (rather than no-sodium) because it's an important electrolyte.

As far as sugar goes, there is NO PROBLEM AT ALL adding a little brown sugar or honey to your oats. I do it every single morning! 1 teaspoon of brown sugar is approximately 17 calories. Honey should be similar. The problem when it comes to sugar is people eating junk food and drinking soda/pop and loading up their livers with copious amounts of fructose. Naturally found sugars contained in fruits are totally healthy, and shouldn't be avoided. I throw frozen blueberries and raspberries in my oats every morning, along with about half a teaspoon of brown sugar (more is too sweet with the berries). It's a fantastic way to start your day.

Long story short: If you don't eat crappy food, don't cut out the only small amounts of sugar and salt that you were actually going to eat, they're healthy!

the truth is that i dont currently watch what i eat at all, but starting next week i am going to.
i want to start training verry hard and well,
eating badly is going to waste my time.
i really dont know every thing you are talkin
about, but i want to know more to take better care of my body.... thank you tho
 
I would recommend you purchase a book on nutrition. Just about any current one should do. Try to avoid fad diet books, just look for something with solid general knowledge.
