How often to train each body part?

Most training routines I see posted seem to work each body part once a week. Then I see some of the pros working each body part twice a week. Is it just a matter of whether youi're on a cycle or not? Right now I'm working out five days a week--once a week per body part--but I was thinking to go to two days on my chest and bis which are lagging for me in order to see more results. Any opinions?

2 days for any bodypart is a bit much unless you do 1 heavy and 1 light day imo
but i always compound bodyparts like chest tris, back bis, legs hams so i limit myself to at most 3 workouts a week but that is just me

I really think that if the volume is kept to 1 or 2 sets per workout for a bodypart on compound exercises, it is possible to train the bodypart two times a week.

Once per week in the past month after I came out here to school just because of time constraints, I switched to a 4 or 5 day split (changes every week because of schedule) and I've seen growth so much better than when I did each BP 2x per week (almost 1/2 inch on the arms in a month) that I really wonder why I ever did that 3 day split, twice per week.

Im with the majority as well.. hitting each bodypart 1x week..although calves get 2 days, one heavy the otehr being just resistance.
abs 2-3x week as well.

I train each bodypart once a week aside from calves and forearms. I do them twice a week. Oh, and abs of course. I train them three-four times a week. :)

I hit body part once a week.....except for calves and abs......sometimes I will train bi's twice just because there laggin' big time:mad:

I would not train a lagging body part 2x a week to bring it up. The pros can get away with it because of gifted genetics, accomodating lifestyles, and gear. Instead I would prioritize those body parts and make sure you are training those parts on the first day of your training split when you are the freshest. Also techniques like 1-1/2 reps, slower tempos, and unilateral work can help bring up those areas. Just be sure if you up the volume in one area of your training you must adjust the others accordingly.

Is there no place for doing full bodyworkouts, say once every three days? I have heard of people having success putting on mass with such a routine although I have never tried it. Here's an example:

Squats 1 X 8 - 10 reps
Leg Extensions 1 X 8 - 10 reps
Leg Curls 1 X 8 - 10 reps
Dumbbell Pullovers 1 X 8 - 10 reps
Barbell Overhead Shoulder Press 1 X 8 - 10 reps
Seated Rows 1 X 8 - 10 reps
Bench Press 1 X 8 - 10 reps
Barbell Bicep Curls 1 X 8 - 10 reps
Tricep Extensions 1 X 8 - 10 reps
Weighted Pullups 1 X 8 - 10 reps
Weighted Dips 1 X 8 - 10 reps
Standing Calf Raises 1 X 8 - 12 reps
Abs - 1 X 10 - 15 reps

Do this routine, rest 2 days and repeat. Is this a bad idea?

Must be the GH, Insulin, and Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) that the pros use. I read how Coleman works chest twice a week and I cannot do it. I am sore for damn near a week after a chest workout. I even wrote him a letter in the FLEX articles he does and never got a response.

same as most people here........1x a week for mostly everything.....everynow and then, if im waiting for another machine to free up, ill do a set of curls or something. and abs 3x a week.
