Hypertension VS Powerlifting

I have a friend of mine that is now in 50's and he's a powerlifter, altough now he doesen't compete mutch... I asking this for him because he don't go well with english language!

3 weeks ago he was preparing to a regional lifting contest, he was running ECG and Clen since also was 103kg(227lbs) and was trying to low is weight (dunno to wich one), he went for a run and ended in hospital since he couldn't lower is heartbeat fopr several hours!
A few days later and after some exams doc's said that he's starting to devolop hypertension!
He's now worried about is training since he don't know if it is a good idea to continue heavy-lifting or if he just avoid some exercises he will be ok! But we all know that Sqauts, Dead-lift and Bench press rises BP!

I would like to hear some of you more experienced PL's guys about this, or if anyone here as this condition can give a help would be nice!

are you kidding? he took clen and wondered why his bp and heart rate was up after a jog.

roflmao.

lifting helps with bp and heart rate, not the other way around. and why is he taking clen to make weight. wrong way to go about it. he only had to lose 7 lbs, he can do that in one night by dehydrating.

Clenbuterol belongs to a broad group of drugs knows as sympathomimetics. These drugs affect that sympathetic nervous system in a wide number of ways, largely mediated by the distribution of adrenoceptors.

(3) a cardiac excitatory action, responsible for in increase in heart rate and force of contraction

High Blood Pressure: Sometimes

Get it?

Clen messes with the heart so much by itself that its like doing cardio while sitting almost, your friend was uninformed or just plain stupid.

Good luck to him though.

I meant ECA, not ECG.

If I knew he was on this stack of course I would have stopped him earlier, I only knew this after he went to hospital! I guess it was mix of both uninformed and stupid!
Altought, he is a nice lifter and a great person so I didn't blame it mutch besides the necessary.
I think he was trying to get the lower weight he could achieve because he wanted to win one of it's old rivals that has the same age, but honestly I dunno what were the rules in that competition.. but as far as I know if he was lighter and lifted the same he would win!

The point isn't the clen use - he dropped it long ago, but the training itself since now along with others problems he his becoming severe hypertense! and if the heavy training can worsen it or give health benifits on that!

So pullinbig, you're saying there's no problem at all doing heavy lifts?

Training does not raise your blood pressure except during the lift itself, especially if one does not breathe properly. He has a genetic and/or dietary problem, lifting does not cause blood pressure problems.

well, thks for your answers guys.
seems like he's on his own! I'll just help him checking is diet.
