ok guys i am 23 and been losing weight since march (was 236 now 209lbs). first 16 pounds were lost by just not having any soda (wow that works wonders) and no more fries. so i kind of just change my diet slightly for the better. the last 10 pounds i have lost by running and doing a little lifting. In the middle of august i was at 25 percent body fat now i am hoovering at 19. i am a total rookie when i comes to exercising, but i have been trying needsize 5x5 routine and i think i am doing it right. i am getting nice results. however this week i was trying his heavy abs routine (doing sit ups with 25 pounds of weight (weak right) on a decline bench and holding it for 5 sec) and damn the first time it felt like it really works. woke up the next morning with a sore stomach (nice). but today 4 days after i tried it again and i feel great pain in my stomach while doing it. is this normal or should i wait longer to try again. one more thing when doing incline bench my sholder cracks. is that normal or am i lifting that in a wrong way causing my left sholder to do a craking sound. thanks for your responses in advance.

p.s. how do you post pictures i would love to post my evolution of fat to muscle! :afro:

When posting a message, look for a button labeled 'Manage Attachments.' It'll let you attach files, including picture files. However, the pictures can only be so big. If you can't post the pictures, then just email them to me and I'll post them here for you: mranak@hushmail.com

Don't email them to Mranak, I tried that and he posted my pic after putting tits and an afro on me.

well that must have been funny. any advise on the topic in hand. i have photoshop so i think i can resize

i don't think that you should be getting a "pain" for the weighted sit-ups. are you using the 25lbs on your chest or behind your head?... and if your getting a "pain", let whatever it is that you have strained heal before continuing.

as for your shoulders, everyone is different, sometimes my sternum pops while doing military press with heavy weights.

great job on the weight loss by the way , would love to see pics.

Don't place blame on me if you have gyno from steroids and your father was a man with an afro.

You might want to start out with only a 10 lb. weight for the first week or so, then gradually work your way up to a 25, then 35, etc.

Any time I use a decline bench for situps, I get pain in my abdomen. I think it might be aggravating a hernia or something, even though it may be a hernia too small for my doctor to detect.

I do flat weighted situps now, that's if I do them at all.

You dont need to train abs 2x´s/week.. do you hit legs, back etx twice?
Go with once a week and as heavy as you can. The "pain" you feel can be the right pain also, this is hard to know when new to lifting weights.
How does youre shoulder crack? does it hurt?
I crack on some places nothing to worry about

good luck bro

you dont need to, but you will get better results from doing so, same thing with calves

until contest time, I only train mine 1x per week
Take your sweet time adding weight, you dont need to go crazy, the slow 5 count makes it hard without weight

when i do incline bench my sholder does a cracking sound but no pain. just feels weird and not normal. i dont want to hurt my shoulder when i need to work and pay the rent

Gay answer to most coming up, but if you lower the bar on bench press to more then a 90 degree angle, your forcing more pain upon the rotator cuffs in the shoulder, if you have a small chest and you lower the bar all the way down and touch, for some people, that's a little too far and causes a strain which can lead to worse problems. Most guys who bounce off the chest doing bench already have fuckin huge chests so they don't go much below the 90degree. I'm not sayin you shouldn't lower it anymore then that, but an inch or so off the chest is far enough, and that way without the bounce, you don't work with momentom, you work with a constant resistance.

Just my thoughts. And go easy on adding weight especially if your new with it.

Umm, one thing that jumps into my head when you say pain with abs workout is Mono, that is actually a way a buddy of mine got wind of his, he was using my ab roller and doubled over in pain.
Is it more of a tightness, or actual pain.
If it is soreness, try one warmup set with no weight, as it sounds like you are a power sitting rook(no disrespect but it may be this). It could also be the breathing, are you exhailing through the crunch?
What is sounds like is simple cramping, I think one set without weight will help you out a lot.
Who knows, One day you may be like be doing sets with 50 pound weights...ah it impresses the ladies.

They might just be reallly fuckin sore from not doing them in awhile, give them a few more days and see how they are.

thanks guys i feel better now i think its just that i was doing them to often (did not give enough rest). i try taking pictures this weekend and start a new thread
