I have been trying a 5x5 split. Since I don't usually ask someone to spot me, I can go to failure on most exercises (e.g dumbell bench) but I can't do any forced reps and negatives. And on some exercises like barbell bench I can only go untill I THINK I can't do one more, when in fact I might have been able to get just one more rep up. So with the 5x5 I go to failure on the last 1 or 2 of the 5 rep exercises and maybe the second sets of the 8-10 rep exercises. I feel nothing in my muscles the next day . I am wondering if I should add some drop sets so I can actually feel something the next day.

I posted my new routine I made up on the 5x5 sticky, but here it is again. Any comments on it are welcome.

Day 1 Chest Shoulders Tris

Dumbell Bench 5x5
Incline Barbell Bench 2x10
Pec Dec 2x10

Shoulders

Dumbell Press 5x5
side lat raise 2x10
front lat raise 2x10

Tris

Skull Crushers 5x5
pushdowns 2x10
dips 2x10

Day 2 off

Day 3 Lats Bis

Lats

Pullups 5x5
dumbell row 2x10
cable row 2x10

Bis

Barbell Curl 5x5
Preacher 2x10
Concentration Curls 2x10

Day 4 off

Day 5 Legs / erector spinae

Squats 5x5
Legpress 4x10

Deadlift 5x5 ( I really want to do these this day)
Leg Curl 4x10
 
u r doing way to much on day 1: you r working your tris 3 times.

For shoulders you can do just laterial raise and bent over raises since your front delt gets enought work.

I would do tris with legs so u can hit it harder.

How long u been doing this routine? Have you ever switched your excercise order or changed some?
I would go and try something new instead. Like run the rack one day and see if you like it.
