I'm thinking of trying var.

I'm 45 woman 5"6 and 180 pounds. I use to work out a lot but then was injured due to being mauled by dogs. I'm back in the game again and I'm on the atkins diet but wanting to start var to lose fat and gain muscle. Just wanting some help??

Thanks
BJ

Seems your at a point where cycling isn't what you need. My advice would be get help with training and nutrition. Maybe 3J could guide you. In my opinion Atkins is not the answer. It's a diet with harmful effects to the body not to mention it isn't sustainable. My quick advice to training would be find a like minded friend to train with and keep eachother motivated. I wish you the best, after a serious injury and at 45 it's very commendable to make a change. Good luck!

yes i agree.. using compounds right now wouldn't suite your needs.. you need a proper diet and training routine..

Try losing fat first since its hard to do both at same time. Try it for a month 20 mins. cardio then weight lifting small weights more reps like 15/set. Conclude your exercise with 20mins cardio. Since you have excess body fat you will start losing it surprisingly fast. Most importantly though for this to work you have to eat right that is to say less carbs more veggies and protein foods and 4 fruits a day(stay away from artificial and processed foods and from canned juices but do blend away fresh juices )and drink 4L of water a day.

It's all about your diet. A good diet program with the addition of Fiber will go a long way. Save the anavar cycle for when you body is in peek performance.

I'm doing the atkins diet and Im at 20 carbs a day but I know that cant be good on the days I work out. Should I bring my carbs up when I'm working out and if so how much?

you should be eating 20% of your calories as carbs.
Low-carbohydrate dieting found that as few as 15 grams of carbohydrates per day can limit nitrogen loss in the body. And raising carbohydrate intake to 50 grams per day severely limits the need for the body to use amino acids for gluoconeogenesis which is why I suggest setting daily carbs at 50 grams.

Atkins is great for loosing weight but it's not the healthiest for long term health. You need to make sure your getting good fats. The quality of the meats your eating will go a long way to how fast your loose. Grass beef has CLA in it that block fat storage and pulls the lipid from fat cells to be burn for energy. Adding medium cain fatty acids like coconut oil help in many ways not to mention hair skin and nail health. It kill stye yeast that grows in your digestive track and causes bloating and a host of other illnesses.
They is no way your only eating 20 carbs. There are carbs in vegetables. Remember your body is like a fire If you want it to burn at it's hottest you need to feed it and fan it. Building muscle is the best way to loose the fat. It's not a race. Pace your self and enjoy the ride.

I'd spend time in the diet forum. If I were to invest it would be in a personal diet program. Remember that what your really seeking is a strong healthy life with a realistic and a sustainable program. welcome to the site.
