I think I'm going to have to start using straps....

My grip is not keeping up with my lifts...and I need an immediate fix. Was DLing 405 for reps (A PR for me) and it just ripped out of my hands. I think I might have arthritis too...sucks getting old.
Ehh...I'm done bitchin'

When I first began lifting I read some guy's post ranting about the Cons of Todays Lifters. One of the things he listed was straps leaving a whole generation of lifters with a womans grip. For some reason and that thought stuck with me, I haven't used straps just because of the principal. But now I'am finding myself in the same boat, my lifts are goin up but my wrist won't keep up with it.

Well then it's settled...I'm getting them. I just have it in my mind that I want my grip with chalk to be it...no need for anything else.

Try some versagrips.com They have some excellent products.

fuck straps. Use chalk. Do grip work. Your grip will catch up and you'll find no need for them afterwhile. The bar slips out of your hands because your grip is weak. Don't find ways around it, do shit to fix it.

I'm thinking of getting straps but not using them until I do the last working set where I can't grip it but still want to move it. In other words I won't use straps on warmup sets. This way I still work on my grip and also can move more weight.
Who knows...maybe this is how you are suppose to use straps. We have guys in my gym that use straps for dumbbell curls...while wearing a belt

Go deadlift 405 with chalk then post again.

Yeah...what he said...I'm also twice his age...young fuck.
I can't use age as a excuse though cause PB is older than me...and most dirt.

use straps but dont abuse them. I only use them on heavy shrugs. But i could see how doing reps with deadlifts is tough without them. Some people have a shitty grip no matter what they do, don't let the grip limit your training.

Thanks JCP...I respect your opinion on these things.

straps have their place buck.

Here is my take on straps...If i can pull 500lbs off the floor, but my grip wont hold...then I will def use straps to help get those reps. Dont get me wrong i have never had to use straps for deadlifts, but if knew i can get it for a few reps but the only thing holding me back was grip..i will def use them.

I use straps for bb rows and sldl's and rack pulls. ANything that is double overhand grip i use straps for my heavy working sets.

Congrats on the 405 PR.

I have no idea what to look for. PB...do you have a link to a place that I can order some from?

I use straps after the wieght slips from my grip which is on really heavy weight I also use them for dlifting 405 on my set of 6 (thats the highest weight I can do right now). I got mine from academy for like 5 dollars.
