Injection hurts like heck

On Monday at 6:00 PM I got my first injection of test in my right quad by the Dr. it was fine going in and felt fine Monday and Tuesday morning. By Tuesday afternoon my quad was killing me. Wednesday was worse then Tuesday, now its Thursday and just starting to feel a little better. There is no redness and it does not seem swollen or warm. Is this normal? The pain is not necessarily at the injection site but throughout the entire muscle. Also how long does it usually take to feel any benefit from the shot? I know everybody is diffrent I was look to see what others experiance has been.

My first injection hurt for a couple of days too afterwards. They stopped bothering me after that. The only time I had some discomfort at the injection site since then is when I got a massage the following day and she working my quads hard. You should be fine in the future.

its virgin muscle and Quads are a very sensitive area for most. The first several quad injections for me hurt like hell for a few days after the injection.

Once you quad gets used to the injections the pain gets a lot less or even no post injection pain at all.

also consider glute injections. I never had any post injection pains in the glutes. glutes are a bigger and meatier muscle.

Ok being a newbie only pining for just over 1 month now. I understand that doing the glutes are awkward turning around to get a good look but I have never had any pain doing it there. It is a pain in the ass no pun intended doing the aspiration thing that way. Guess ya gotta do what makes you comfortable.

The pain is normal injecting in the quad...and to be honest I'm very surprised that the doctor would choose that sight ??

If you're on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) then the total quantity is probably 1ml per week. Do it 0.5 ml E3D or so, inject using a 25g needle in the delt. You'll probably have to warm the T, you'll almost definitely have to draw it using an 18g or 21g, but for God's sake don't stick that thing in you!

I've been doing this for a bit over two months and have had zero pain at any time in the delt. Did one in the quad and it hurt for four days. Did once in belly fat (tried to go Sub-Q but failed) and that hurt for two months.

I rotate quads and glutes, butt doesnt hurt at all. Quads get a little sore and left one is always worse then right. For one make sure you are injecting with a 23g needle, my first one was a 21g at the doc and it hurt bad. Also try sitting when doing quads. When you inject in quad when you get done rub it in for about 30 secs to a min.

Thanks guys, today is my next injection and the first I will be doing myself. I was only given 23g needles. when you say to warm the T first how do you do that? I don't know if I warm the bottle or the syringe. I was afraid to warm the bottle, I did not know if the constant heating and cooling would affect the T inside. I am going to try the other quad today and maybe the delt next time depending on how it goes. If I want to do 0.5ML every 3 days do I need the doc to give me a script for more syringes and 25g needles?

i dont know how they warm, but Im guessing put in in warm water. Your doc should be able to write you or give you what you need. Or I have heard you can buy them at the pharmacy for dirt cheap. .5Ml is still going to be a lot to inject with a 25g. specially in butt as I try to get that one done ASAP as its hard to bend around and see and all of that but if you are sitting down and have time 25g should work with quads.

So yesterday I injected myself for the first time. The needle the doc gave me is a 22G not a 23G like I thought. I warmed the syringe under hot water injected into left quad injected very slow put pressure on injection sight for 60sec after remove the needle. Last night the pain in my quad started today I am limping around unable to walk strait do to the pain. Is this because that muscle was never injected before? I am hoping this gets better with time. Do I need to change to a smaller needle, inject a different area or inject smaller amounts more often?

Well maybe everyone has their fav area to do it. I prefer the butt. Lots of meat to hit. Never had pain. Easy to do. I draw the T with a 22 and use the same 22 to shoot it.

Tips and Suggestions

Well, first I'd definitely suggest getting 25g needles (for injecting...I pull the test with a 20g). I use a 1.5" for my glute, but you can probably get away with a bit shorter if you're very lean. It takes a little while to push the test through, but you're supposed to inject slowly anyway, so it keeps you from going to fast.

The glute is pain free except for when your just pierce the skin, and it's just a pin prick (literally). The way I do it is to stand in front of a mirror sideways, or maybe a little more, so that you can see the side of your glute and what you're doing without having to turn yourself into a pretzel. Maybe someone who does a lot of yoga can turn around and look at their ass, but I can't! (I have a mirror behind my bathroom sink that goes down to the counter, so it's convenient for me....a full length mirror would work too.) I lean against the counter and take the weight off of the side I'm injection so that I can relax the glute and remain steady. You don't necessarily need to lean against anything, but I find it helps me to keep motionless. I use the right hand for the right glute, and the left hand for the left glute. I have to change my grip a couple times while doing it (one grip for injection, one for aspiration, and another for pushing the plunger). After I pull out I put pressure on the site with the alcohol swab for about a minute.

I've heard someone say they inject their glute while lying on a bed. Perhaps they have a mirror on the ceiling? :laugh4:

The reason I was doing quads is I never gave myself shots before and quads seem to be the easiest to see what i was doing. I guess I will try glutes next time. It just seems that would be a pain in the ass, in more ways then one.

Completely logical, and that's what I originally planned, but my doctor talked me out of it, and since others have had issues with quads, I'm just sticking with the glutes. If I had bigger delts I might try them, but pinning them with a 1.5" needle (which is all I have) and trying to hold it part-way in during the process seems too awkward to me.

Quads are fine and painless if you do them right, and they give new guys a sense of control by being able two use to hands. Don't get me wrong on paper it seems logical, but in reality some guys have less pain in the quads.

Its like saying that everyone who puts on a condom will have a 98% successful birth control right, in reality the percentage is in the 60's cause people put them on wrong and rip them.

Best thing to do is get an oil based solution to mix in your syringe, this will decrease concentration and alleviate PIP from raw testosterone sitting on the muscle.

Update.... I called the Dr. and requested a smaller needle. I was given a 27g 1/2" as apposed to the 22g 1" i was using. I injected into the quad again because the Dr. did not want me doing the but without instruction, in fear I could hit the sciatic nerve. Long story short no pain with my third injection. Could be the smaller needle or the fact that the muscle has gotten used to adsorbing the test but either way I am much happier. I am feeling much better as well, Libido & brain fog have been better still have away to go but feel I am on the right track.
