Is cod liver oil better if not equal to flax for omegas?

I generally use 3 tblspns flax ed. is the dosage the same for cod?

Cod liver oil actually contains the required omega-3 form that your body uses (EPA), and flax contains zero. It's possible to convert the LNA into EPA, but it's not very efficient and there's no guarantee that you will.

1 tablespoon a day of cod liver oil is enough.

what about omega 6? or is it not necessary?

I'm looking for a complete source of omegas w/ linolenic acids

Flax oil contains about 18% omega-6, but generally it's not required since there is usually and excess of omega-6 in the diet.

linoleic acids are not actually essential.

The essential fats are dihomo-gamma linoleic acid (DGLA) to make series 1 prostaglandins, arachidonic acid (AA) to make series 3, and eicosepentaenoic acid (EPA).

A little flax oil is ok, but I mean 1-2 teaspoons per day. Fish oil should be the base of an EFA supplement regimen.

Er, I mean alpha linoleic acid and linoleic acid are not essential.

Evening primose or borage oil might not be a bad idea, though, since they provide GLA which bypasses the need of linoleic acid to be converted.
