Hey Everyone,

I am 32; 200 LBs; and just coming off of some supplements. I have been working out hard off and on for a few years and I just keep getting pissed. I want to look like the big guys at the GYM and I never get close. Guys I just think is my Genetics. I do not think I have it in me to be as BIG as those guys in the gym. I am about to throw in the towel once again.

Wouldn’t you agree based on the picture? Hopeless right?

Best,

I think you should consider a few things here, and please remember, that I am a member, avid athlete, and lifter myself, but I'm no university, Ph.D., or exercise physiologist. I'll just share what I know.

First, off, Yes, genetics can play a huge part in how 'big,' someone may get. Bruce Lee, before he became a household name, and martial arts superstar, went through a season of his life where he was convinced that to get to the next level of his physical performance, he would need to get 'big,' and super strong. He started lifting weights, drinking tons of protein shakes, and eating like crazy. However, after trying really hard, and being super disciplined, he was only able to gain a little more weight, and never got 'big' at all. He learned that his genetical makeup, and his somatotype, prevented him from betting 'big.' But, he realized that through the weight training, that he became super strong. He was able to life all kinds of ridiculous weight; it is reported that he could take a Olympic bar, and put a 45lb. plate on both sides (135 lbs.), and hold the bar, with arms extended, straight out in front of him, where his arms were parallel to the floor. He had a specially designed punching bag, that weighed over 300 lbs., and he could be standing beside the bag, motionless, and do a small skip of his feet, and side kick the bag. The force of his kick would like the entire bag off the chains that were holding it, and cause it to fly up and hit the ceiling. He accepted his genetical makeup (meaning he couldn't get "big"), but trained in such a way that he could incredible strong. Chuck Norris once said, that in all the people that he had ever met, 'the strongest person, pound for pound, was Bruce Lee.'

Second, know that a lot of the supplement industry is hype. It is well known that a lot of the these companies, sell stuff that just don't work. However, they work harder at developing aggressive, and deceptive advertising (sometimes, with so-called 'Before & After' photos, that have been photoshopped to make the 'After' picture look drastically improved), than they do at developing, through lots of research, trial and error, and genuine clinical studies (all of which takes A LOT of money/funding, that these private companies do not have, or do not want to spend) authentic products that actually work.

Third, know that a lot of those HUGE bodybuilders did not get 'big' and supercut through the products that they are often seen endorsing, or the usual products that we see on the market, that the average Joe can by in a GNC, or health supplement store. Most of the super huge guys you see, are taking strong, anabolic substances that cause extreme muscle growth; and these 'substances' genuinely work, and work well! This may include testosterone, a whole host of different anabolics, insulin, human growth hormone, and many others that are known to have explosive results. If someone is not using such substances, they will be limited to what their genetic makeup can do. However, it is still possible to create the physique that a lot of men will be envious over, but it takes a lot of discipline, and hard work.

I would recommend, for starters, a book entitled, "Bigger, Leaner, Stronger," by Mike Matthews. I would also encourage you to communicate with 3J, through his site, 3J's Nutrition | Diet and fitness consulting to get you to the next level.. 3J is a nutrition expert, and in his words, it's "80% diet, 15% training"

Hope that helps

@Elicit23

I am serious. I am tired of looking the way I look and I do not know why. I mean my wife says I look killer; but I just do not see it when I am at the gym; I might have mental issues.

@Thoroughbred72

WoW! Simply Epic! Thank you for that! Like no joke that is some serious wisdom there. Copied!

I'm sure most people that lift go through that stage, myself included. We are our own worst critics and even when I feel small to most we look big. You look like a beast man, most people would dream to have your physique.

What supplements did you come off of? Diet is a HUGE part of the picture here, so as was mentioned above - I'd definitely look into 3J's service. Also how long have you been consistently in the gym? I have a hard time saying it (body dysmorphia) but I'm easily one of the bigger guys in my gym, but I've been lifting weights for over 20 years with a small break in there due to an injury. Even though we want changes to occur quickly and to see goals materialize before our eyes, this isn't one of those things that can be rushed safely.

Stick with it, you have a really good base and I can easily see you putting on another 15lbs long before you hit any plateaus due to genetics. If it were easy, supplements and weight loss/gain fads wouldn't be such big business. ;)

My .02c :)

You look good man, I know that feeling of looking around in the gym and wanting to be there already but it takes TIME...none of that 90 days bullshit advertised will get you there..

Im sure many guys on here would like to be in your shoes, and yes like someone said above we dont see it sometimes ourselves since we see ourselves everyday, but other people notice our size changes, happens to me, but i dont see it and people point it out.
Keep training , eating right and well ...join the dark side when your ready.
Goodluck

@halfwit

I was on Super DMZ 2.0 and LMG 25 with cycle assist; I am thinking of doing trenabol real quick before I come completely off. Ya my DIET is really f#($ed up. I need to really get that checked. I know you are right; I wish I was big like you man. I really do.

I hear you my friend; I will stick with it and do my research; I know I will!

Thanks for your 2 cents; well worth it.

@theblitzkrieg

Nah; I’m just full of S*#&, I just want to be 225 LBS and bench 425 looking like a beast in the gym; however I need to get there that is what I want to do.

@elboz

Yes a long time it ill take; that is what I am figuring out; plus diet and hard work; there really is no shortcuts…

I can’t wait to join the DARK SIDE!!! Count me in!

@Everyone

JUST FYI! I have printed out all of these comments and will be studying everyone***8217;s input carefully. I am currently back in college and have a 4.0 GPA. I might have acted ignorant sometimes; but that is only because I am frustrated with this whole process. What I have learned though; that it is going to take years.

Learned:

1. I need a core Natural base
2. I need to EAT more than anyone can imagine
3. I need to Train like never before
4. I need WILL and DEDICATION
5. I need HEART

I really and sincerely appreciate everyone***8217;s comments; and look forward into keeping in contact with some of you because you have been so very helpful. I will be working on my natural core and when I graduated from that I will be ready to move on to the next level. I will be doing extensive research in the meantime.

Thank you so much for all over your support; and please if you have last minute advice on my journey please do not hesitate to leave a uplifting comment.

Best,

Just keep lifting, reading and researching! You have a solid foundation you've built and it takes time to get things dialed in

you could just go with the fitness model look. What im doin with my upperbody untill I can get my legs built up to play. Like that ZYZZ type look.

^^^ This, at least for now. I'm very much in the same boat man and totally understand the frustration. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with your aesthetics if you focus on trimming up a bit and maintaining a tighter shredded look until you have the time to dedicate to actually building some real mass, because I agree it does come much harder for some of us (myself included) than others. Until only recently I was in a job travelling 1-2 weeks out of every month which makes it impossible to keep a regular gym schedule or diet plan on track.

What ever you do, DON'T give up! You have a great solid base going that you can build on in the coming years. And when life settles enough for you to switch focus from school to gym, you're going to be more than prepared for it.

I take it you are an ectomorph? I would say if you are an ecto and want to be 225lbs and benching over 400 you're wasting your time. It's not impossible by any means, but fighting your genetics is one of the silliest things to do. I have a buddy who has been cycling for years he started at 150lbs @ 6'1 and he is 215lbs now. He is three years into SERIOUS (2hrs/day) training and he has the right diet. Starting out he benched 155lbs now he can do 225lbs for like 6 reps. When he comes off cycle he loses a lot of his gains, his body just isn't made to be this big. He also struggles with injuries since his bone structure is smaller (smaller wrists/ankles/shoulders). By comparison I started lifting and passed him on bench and deadlift within 6 months 100% natural. I have good genes for building muscle and a much larger frame, but I have never gotten under 10% bodyfat and have to count every calorie that goes in my body while he can eat everything in sight and have a 6-pack.

IMHO you should pick goals that fit with your body type or else you're doomed to be disappointed or even if you reach your goals you won't be able to maintain that size without AAS.

I agree with the others who say go for the fitness model look, Zyzz looked incredible. Put on some more lean muscle and shred up more. Dropping your bf% will make you look bigger anyway.

HOWEVER, it sounds like you have never stayed dedicated long enough to even figure out what your body is capable of. Get your diet on track and train hard for a year and see where you are. If you're an ecto it looks like you've already made some major progress so stick with it.

^ genes play a part in your physical appearance no doubt but hard work and motivation is the key. Op u look good how tall are u? U look more like a meso-ecto. I think u would be happier if you lowered your bf% though. I don't know if it will necessarily make you look bigger but you will be sculpted.

I agree with halfwit, damn good base bro...keep at it and don't be too hard on yourself. If your wife thinks your jacked, go with it, eat clean and keep throwing metal! Good luck!
