When i cut, i lower the volume but keep the intensity and weight. Too much volume can lead to over training on a caloric deficit. On gear you can get away with this more often.
As you can see, everyone has their own methods. It works for them and they are all unique in some way or the other. Just find something that works for you. Try everything and find something you like that works for you. Just stick to the basic principles of bodybuilding, Progressive overload, nutrition, and rest. It's like a tripod, it needs three legs to stand on, remove one leg and the thing won't stand.
