Is TRT safe?

I have been around alot of guys on it and have researched and heard many stories, so Is life long testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) safe?

;Certainly there are people out there who say testosterone replacement therapy is just wonderful, and others who say it doesn;t do any good at all. What we;re saying is we just dont know,; said Dr. Dan Blazer of Duke University Medical Center, who led an Institute of Medicine probe of the therapy. The report spotlights a huge area of contention, the claim that because testosterone levels slowly drop as men age, they undergo a male version of menopause - dubbed andropause by some doctors and drug companies - that requires treatment.

In fact, many doctors dont agree that andropause is a real phenomenon. Nor is there evidence that symptoms many older men report - such as decreased libido, frailty and fatigue - really are connected to testosterone when they could be inevitable consequences of aging, Blazer said.

Demand for prescription testosterone treatment by middle-aged and older men whose natural hormone levels are near normal is rising rapidly, the study found. More than 1.75 million prescriptions for testosterone products were written in 2002 - a 170 percent increase from 1999 - for an estimated 800,000 patients.

The Food and Drug Administration has approved testosterone therapy for men with hypogonadism, where the body makes very little testosterone. An estimated 4 million to 5 million Americans have hypogonadism, but only about 5 percent are thought to be getting treatment.

That means a lot of men using testosterone are in a gray zone.

And specialists hope the reports recommendations will help avoid the confusion that has plagued menopausal women, who once considered hormone replacement therapy a rite of passage until a major study recently declared that treatment too risky.

( iread this and countless others all for it but I want to hear from guys on it besides my friends

yea brother, its safe it all depends on how you handle it,always get blood test done on a regular basis, and get your dose right and it will change the more years you are into it,most start out with a small dose, but over time, your body will become more and more tolerant to it,and the dose will havet to be increased,im for sure not an Endo or doctor, just telling you of my experiences with it,once i got my doses correct its works great for me,but once you are on it and stay on it,you will be for life,as i am,ive had bad experienes with my endos about mine, because as one of them said,im a unique case, ive argued back and forth with them, but if your doctor handles it the right way, then you will be fine to be on it for life imo

Is this foreal bro? about the dose needing increasing?
People can grow from 500mg fine and keep gaining for ages and ages *(beyond years)*
You must be unique? as you said :P?
Also, because you replace you're on test, that means your constantly high energized, harder to sleep.. compared to natural when they fall at night?

I'm on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) an actually sleep better when my level are peaking, where i start to loose sleep is on the 5 day crash, body become lethargic and sore, but compared to when Im wasn't on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) i sleep way better now than i did previously

well brother,i whole heartly believe that i am,because i started out at 100mg every other week, and over the course of several years, now my dose has been increased to 300mg/week and still my levels are just in the mid 500's...ive posted this alot on the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) forum and gotten several different answers,so honestly i dont know, but one thing i was tol by 1 of my doctors is that,i had never had my levels checked until i was 39 years old,and i was working out hard every week, plus my work is physically hard and also i was told that my body just used so much test to keep up with my activities, gym, work, lack of testing until i was older etc....i wish i had a good and true answer to this,i would really feel more comfortable if i did.

Its like my doctor said,my body size made the difference,he said if i was a hummer,i would use more gas than a volkswagon....hence i would use more test than a smaller man

i sleep better now as well, too i suffer from severe anxiety, severe depression etc and low test just added to that, now that im on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) its gotten better, but not a whole lot better, but i do have more energy

You need to self medicate IMO, screw docs.
They just after money bro, its true.
You can go get government blood tests (which are free) and inject yourself.. if u need help.. testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) section is here you can talk to Chip!!
I think self medicating will really help you fight depression, you obviously depressed because your test levels are low?
Or that you're not achieving the goal that you want?

yea brother,i wish i could afford chip,he and i have had several conversations and i would give anything to be under his program...and i agree fuck the doctors,in all honesty i should self medicate, cause on my last visit in oct,the endo wanted to reduce my dose to 75mg/every week:eek: a train wreck waiting to happen

Easy....your not an endo or a psychologist psychiatrist.

And if I wanted to feel good all the time I d go back with opiates and suck on Xanax bar s but that ended badly...

..but Bullseye and I share some similiar maladies and skeletons.

Reckless use of gear WILL have its consequences...mine manifested in my mind...and I do testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) now.

1 cc test every 5-7 days. Most day s are good..some real good...mood OK, hard dick...perfect cholesterol.

No offense Nitzo--if I were in charge we d line up most doc s and almost all lawyers and shrinks and use belt fed weapons on em..however, there are good doc s..my gp is great. Really.

I feel the same way, good post. Rep

If you have low test chances are you will not be living long. Would you rather be miserable or not? In my case the question was...do you want to get out of bed...or not?

I would gladly give away 10 years of my life to feel normal again. Everyone in my family has lived to be at least 80 years old, so chances are pretty good that I will too. But I would rather die at 70, barking at the moon, than live to be 80 in my current condition. It's all about quality of life for me.
