Ladies Question about Weight/Water gain

Ok, here is my or should i say my wife's delima. She had an appendectomy about 6 yrs ago, very acute and gangerious (sp). All when well but it seemed like she started to gain some weight then. Btw, her stats were 4'11" 85-90lbs (she is 38yr old now), as she works out 5 days a wk and cardio at least an hr. Her diet is fine as she is mostly vegatarian, but she will eat dairy, chicken, fish etc. Well about 2 yrs ago she was complaining about this little bit of cellulite on her thigh, so she made an appointment with a board cert plastic surgeon and then made the hospital appointment for the procedure. Well to make a long story short, after the proceduce her legs and thing are blew up (as i hear now they will inject as much as 8 times more of saline solution then the fat they take out), it reduced but she never went back to normal. In fact it was worse. Now she is all bulked up and id say at least 30lbs more weight. Doesn't even look like the same person. She is very depressed now because she is doing all this working out, and her diet in great and it almost seems like she is getting bigger. We have went to countless drs/endo and nothing shows, (fasting glucose 109, t-3/4 fine, tsh, fine, cortisol fine etc.) Everything checks out, so where can she go from here? She has tried aldactone 75mg ed and doesn't work and we are thinking lasix now, but we really don't know if it is all bulk or water. She used to be petite and small boned and now she is like extreame bulky and even you can see it in her back and arms. He back you used to be able to see her shoulder blades and now they are all full chunky bulk. Any suggestions would be appreciated. She is becoming more and more depressed as summer is comming and it has been like 3 yrs since she has worn shorts or halter tops.

I will add she is also take Metformin thinking cause her glucose was a bit over normal it might help, but shes only been on it for about 2wks taking 500mg in the am and pm with meals. Right now it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

I personally don't know. She says it is water, but her legs, back, arms are much thicker than b4, no dr has been able to determine the cause all testing comes back normal. Shes even had a CT and MRI done and nothing. She has not changed her diet, like i said she is mostly vegan and doesn't eat anything with fat. She works out like crazy as well. And i used the wrong terminology, she is vegatarian, meaning she will eat eggs, dairy, chicken and fish, just no meat. Her diet hasn't changed since this happen and not her workouts.

take a close look ate her diet , i knew someone who had a similar problem and they were eating very low fat . after upping their fat intake the problem slowly went away . tuna/flax meal/flax oil/fish oil/olive oil/natty peanut butter /etc.

I want to correct myself, she is mostly vegatarian, meaning she will eat chicken, dairy, eggs, fish, just no meat. She doesn't supplement with flax, multi-c, extra vit-c. There has not been a change in her diet since she gained this and like i said, she works out 5 days ew and an hr of cardio. We think it has something to do with the lipo or or a combo of the apendix cause it was to the point of gangarine (sp) and i know that bacteria from it can effect internal organs.

Hey Mick..

what procedure did she have done?? Liposuction??

Did she recently get on birth control or change her birth control?

Has she had her hormones tested?

STOP with the experimenting until you find out what the cause is!!!

Diuretics will cause a water rebound and it sounds like her body is in a total state of confusion as it has undergone a whole lot in the past year or so... sometimes the body needs to just re-adjust or re-allign itself on its own which would take about 1-3 months...

well, hit me back with some answers and we'll see what we can figure out :)

tell her to hang in there!!!

^I did say in my first post that we went to countless endo and drs all is normal (cortisol, t-3/4, tsh, fsh, cholesterol, lipids etc i can go on and on). None have been able to figure out the prob. I know for a fact it is not her diet, as it is the same as b4, she is totally committed to her diet and eats no sugars or deserts, works out 5 days ew 1hr of cardio. Her glucose was 109 borderline normal so she is trying this Metformin 500mg twice ed, but she has only been on it 2 wks, so no sure how long it will take to have an effect. She has another appointment with this endo, but he doesn't know either, so imo it is a waste of time. She has undergone three laparascopies within the last 3 yrs, for infetility issues, the last one she had tubal ligation due to us trying IVF (ligation helps prevent tubal etopic pregnancy). After we found out we couldn' conceive natually we decided not to go thru with IVF. Anyway, she had liposuction to the thigh areas about 2ys ago and 6 yrs ago had this acute to the point of gangarine appendix removal. So we were wondering if the extent of such a bad appendix had to do with the reason she had problems conceiving and the starting of this weight gain, or the liposuction, because we were reading that during the procedure they will inject as much as 8 times the amount of saline solution then the amount of fat removed. Remember we were talkining her about a woman then 32yrs old when she had the appendix removed then the laprascopites about 3-1/3yrs later, up to now she is 38 and was always 4'11" 85-90lbs and now totally dif composition to her body all thick not only legs, but back, arms, abdomin is swelled all the time when it used to be flat as a board. No one seems to know, and imo they don't even seem to care or want to get into the matter more indepth. My wife is not a hypocondric either and never complains, but this is just a radical change. Oh, it has been 5 months since the touchup liposcution, and 1 yr or alittle more since the last laparascopy which was the tubal ligation procdure. She has clubbed falopian tubes and partical blockage, that is the reason we can not conceive normally. We have read that sometimes abnormalites most of the time are caused by viruses or bacteria. She has never had infection, much less even yeast, never, so this is what lead us to think it might be the apendix or lipo or combo of both plus the laprascopies. She also now has pelvic pain, which is like a pressure near her lower abdominal area, and never had this prior to the laparascopies. I think the laparascopies cause adhesions. I wish now she had never had the laparascopies done. Her legs are now almost twice the sized and stomach distended and all this bulk in her upper body (arms, shoulders, back). She is very depressed, not to the point of phycological, but it is going to becomming spring again and you know how women well she used to dress sexy and shorts, halter tops and now it is long sweats and t-shirts.

To make it more clear, here is the time frames of laparacopies 2-1/2 yrs ago first one to see if there is abnormalities for conception her enod surgeon dr performs hsg where die is put thru tubes and finds blockages, and while doing laparascopy finds clubed tubes as well as septum, she removes septum in uterus so as to help if we were to do IVF. Second laparascopy about 8months later performed to do tubal ligation. Last yr 3rd laparascopy done to check to see why she is getting pelvic pain/pressure, no conclusion other then him saying may be due to adhesions. First liposcution to the thigh areas done in hospital by board cert plastic surgen done about 1-1/2 yrs ago, then touch up 5 months ago. Still no change. Diet and training of course after surgeries were held up for 6wk periods, but she has resumed her regular workout and diet hasn't changed, since all this took place. It has been about 1 yr 4month since her last laparscopy which the tubal was done.
