Lower Back Injury

Three or four weeks ago I was doing some heavy power cleans(at least heavy for me) and I was going for a 1 rep max of 275. I got it all the way up to my shoulders and then I couldnt flip my wrists for the full clean, and thats when I felt soemthing in my back pull. I didnt think much of it and keep working out, trying the 275 twice more but failing. I tried rehabing it but everytime I lifted whether it was squats deadlifts cleans, my back would keep getting worse. Eventually the pain from my lower back went staright down into my leg. It still hurts and Im taking this week off, but how long do I need for a full recovery? I never had back problems before, and it sucks because I cant even strecth correctly any morw without pain. I feel like an old man.

as long as it takes, dude! ya don't wanna make it worst than it is already, yes? could probably be a nerve pull. if so, you'll need a longer recuperating time. no worries, happens to all of us. see a doctor too

you have most likely fucked your disc at L5/S1 which is pushing on your nerve, causing the leg pain ( and I'd guess it radiates out across your butt cheek too)

try doing a google search for Robin Mckenzie, and follow his treatment plan for healing your lower back

Yea its across my but too. Does it fix itself on its own?

yeah you have a nerve pinching go to a chiro. or what I do is swim. Swimming relieves the discs from pressure because in water your weightless and just give yourself time to heal and when it comes time to hit the gym again take it easy you dont want to rupture or herniat your lower disc.

It may or may not improve with time. A chiro might be in order. If you have pain in your leg, its almost definately a pinched nerve and Id recommend a good chrio for that.

or a physio :flipoffha

robin mckenzie is a NZ physio, his books are about healing your own back, particularly low back injuries like this.

how ever if you have totally fucked the disc ( massive protrusion) you may need surgery. doc's sometimes will do cortisone injections to help relieve symptoms.

Is prolo therapy any good for this ( prolo is practically unheard of here in Aus)

Well after two days of rest, it seems to have gottn a lesser degree of pain. However its still present. I believe its called a sciatic nerve thats being pinched. Hopefully I can get back on rhythym for my next cycle which i planned to start june 5th. Hopefully I can get to 100%...anything i can take that will help it get back to 100% in any way? Probably not, but worth a shot anyway to ask.
