Lower Pectorals

It seems like no matter what I do I can't work my lower pecs enough to make them good and sore. The uppers are not a problem. I'm just not doing the right lifts I guess. I'm doing decline bench, decline dumbell flys, cable pulls, dips, etc. I shoot for 10 reps and drop weight to failure in 5 sets. So far nothing makes my lower pecs ache the next day or so.

Any suggestions? I thought about posting this over in the body building forum but there's like two people viewing there and two thousand over here. I figured I'd get more input here.

Thanks!

Soreness has nothing to do with how effective a workout is.

Have you been making any gains? Getting stronger on your decline lifts or increase in muscle in that region?

If not, it's most likely an issue of not eating enough calories.

I'm curious to see the responses here because I have always wanted to try and target my lower pecs better. I've asked a few people who I know are top notch trainers. The general consensus is declines are a waste of time. Hit the chest hard with inclines, flat bench and weighted dips and your whole chest will grow.

I still do declines with the hope they are wrong but I trust them enough to think I'm probably wasting my time trying to target the lower pecs.

glub is right its all about progression. If your seeing increases in amount of weight lifted or reps completed your exercises is affective. If definition in your lower pecs is what you want then get your bf under 6%
