once you get used to a shirt have the spotter keep his hands off the bar but until then let him stay close . bar came off the chest fast then stalled for just a bit then acellerated on to the top , this could be a weak spot curable by some 2-3 board work or it could be caused by not firing the tris off soon enough which is common with people new to the shirt because they tend to let the shirt get the weight going then start pressing , usually a concious effort and some band work can fix that .
imo you would be good for a mid 5 bench just looking at the vid if you just warmed up and then maxxed in the shirt instead of all the close grip reps first but thats just my guess based on 1 video .
the video was taken very close to you so its hard to tell but it looks like your elbows should be tucked more at the bottom then let them flare out more near the top . also practice your arch , the higher the belly the shorter the stroke .
when i look back at this reply it looks like im nitpicking ya but im really not , im trying to get ya that 600 pound BP :)
 
nitpick away bro that how we get better..im never happy where im at..yes im pleased to be 500 for only my second time in a shirt but like you said i want more..

teh prolbme with the vid was that right behind my brother filming are benches ten the dbell rack and of course at 5 ish te gym was crowded so it was hard to get a good angle..but i do plan on taking more video as i go along..

i need to remember to keep tight i was getting alittle flat bringing teh weight down i think thats what caused the little stall and then getting tight and pushing reaccelerated the bar kinda like you said..

i hear ya on the spotter thing..he works at the gym so im tryng to break him in..there were guys on both sides as well..i feel comfortable but im not sure the others can spot if something goes wrong and react quick enough

whats up with you hand off man. i mean who hands off with hands forward like you curling. tell him dbl overhand or alternate grip.

your shirts too big. no way 495 is supposed to go down that easy. looks like its the chest plate thats too big. whats the measurement on the chest plate?

lose the big ass squatting belt and get ya a 2-3" work belt. thats gonna give ya more belly sticking up. the belt you wearing is on your belly it needs to be below the belly so when the shirt tightens up its forces your belly up, with the belt like it is, your hindered. watch kyle's 525x5 clip. look at his belt. watch what the guys do right after he gets planted. belt pulled down so his belly is free to poke up. watch his belly as the bar comes down. the shirt forces it towards his feet then the belt forces it up.

look at the hand off guy also and see how he's handing off and spotting. (wonder who that is, the only one in there who can hand off 705, thats who)

not bad for a newbie to the world of shirts though. hell you even look like a pler. bald and got that shit on your chin. you look like a little clay brandenburg.

btw the lift dont count cause the guy touched the bar. try again next week. lolololololol hehehehhehehehehehe roflmao he fucked you. id bitch slap his skinny ass. sides if you dump it at the bottom the head spotter cant help you. the side guys are the main spotters on the bench. in a meet there is no head spotter. once he hands off he has got to move out of the way so the head judge can see. he can be close for safety reasons and once the rack singnal is given he can step in to pull it back to the rack. but the side guys do most of the work there.

youre absolutely right about te spotter..he works at the gym and im trying to break him in so ill talk to him about that..i didnt notice until i saw the vid with his hands lol..hes got decent bi's he may be able to curl 405??? lol

the belt may be why i feel i was unable to get my arch really high as well as getting my stomach up..

ill get better..i promise :)

what is the measurement on your chest plate? over all though you looked good for this early in the game. nice job. get to a gym where you can get some help bubba. is it iron island? go there imediately. if only for a few weeks til you get the stuff dialed in. or better yet carry your ass to see bill crawford and the mm guys. how far you from them. they do shirt work on saturday. mcvicar used to drive it every sat, 5 hours one way. hes in the baltimore area. or at least hit a mm seminar. its well worth the 70 bucks. carry your beautiful benching girl friend too.

the chest plate is 9 1/2 inches..they did recco that i take it in an inch but i havent done it yet..

funny you mention that i was thinking of doing all those things..im waiting for a MM tape on benching but i was thinking about one of their seminars too 100 bucks but it seems like its well worth it to learn first hand from the best.MM is like 3/4 hours away.

As soon as i get my transportation issues worked out i plan on making a switch ..i just dont need to deal with other peoples jealousy and negativity in a gym when im trying to accomplish something..some were curious and amazed which is fine but others (who btw have never been in a shirt) were suddenly experts on beching lol..id rather be in a place where everyone is on te same page and after the same thing!!

well im off to the gym for band work on bench today. legs still throbbin from last night's pause squats and pull thrus.

may have stumbled on to something last night as well.

i am at a new gym now and there was a pretty good size guy in their last night. i asked him if he ever competed and he said he stopped doing bench only meets in 2000. he said his pard is ready to do another meet but he declinbed. i need a couple of guys to train with 1 day per week on shirt work. he said hed talk to his pard and see if he's interseted. i may have found something. =0) hopefully. this gym is close to the house. its lacking in equipment, esp posterior stuff, but i can get it done there. i was driving 45 minutes one way for months after we moved.

i was gonna set me up a home gym but when wifey saw the doaalr amount she balked. i had to build a building first. =0l then buy equipment =0(

i may just get me a reverse hyper and stick it in the spare bedroom.
