Might have tore my quad

Yesterday I had to train legs, my quads were already sore from injects in both of them. I started out just like any other leg day by stretching and some extension to get the knees warm. I went right to the squat rack, started with my 1 plate warm up. The quads hurt so bad where I had shot, but I continued on with 2,3, then 4 plates. I wrapped my knees and tightened my belt, going for the usual 10 easy reps. I unracked it did one rep pretty easy then on the second one I went down and on the way up, POP! About six inches down from the hip on the outer sweep it felt like my leg was farting. My partner unrapped my knees and I reached down in a panic to see if it was still there. Today every thing is in place with a little swelling but no bruising. I can hardly walk because i cant bent my leg very well it pulls and hurts like hell. Iam going to take off training legs for a week and see if I can do Extensions and curls after that. I cant afford to quit because i have the NPC Michigan State Champ. coming up in May. Any advice?:(

Get to a physio asap. With proper treatment immediately you can cut down your down time by alot.

Ice it 4x/day for 20 min. Go to an orthopedist. Get an MRI just to be sure. If you're "on", stay on.

I'd actually go for 5x/Day on the ice, still 20 mins each time. Go see an orthopod ASAP, and be sure to get him to get you an MRI. In the location you're talking about, the belly of the vastus lateralis, sounds like, it probably won't make too much of a difference if the muscel is torn or strained; there's not just a heck of a lot that can be done for it, whereas a tendon might have to be surgically reattached, this will probably have to heal on its own. If you know a PT or an AT, talk them into giving you muscle stim treatment on the area, along with ice; this will help to speed the healing process tremendously.

I agree with what has been said. Follow the R.I.C.E. procedure and contact your dr. before injuring it anymore.
